What a snowman does with an ifocus 35mm adapter

Hey everybody,

I had to throw together this little video for my part-time job up here in the AK. It's about what a snowman does during the summer months.

I shot the interview footage with the Ifocus 35mm adapter, it's really soft but thats my own fault. It's hard to make sure something is in focus when you're in front of the lens and not wearing your glasses. :)

I love this adapter though, for those of you who were wondering. It's got a great image.

damn straight brodda! ifocus all the way for static ( static for now.. maybe something to come down the road? ) :)

"It's hard to make sure something is in focus when you're in front of the lens and not wearing your glasses"

Almost, flip the dvx LCD VF and you'll be able to see what you're doing. You can also use a tape measure and set the distance that way.

actually

i tried doing that, must be that my lens is off, cause i got something in perfect focus

measured it at 11 feet on the dot, but the lens read about 9 feet.

and weird too, when i first got the adapter back, i was happy to see that the focus and f stop readings were facing up, and now they have ended up being on bottom again... not sure how that happened

I forgot about the tape measure trick, but again, it's hard to get something in focus when your eyes can't do it. I should have put my glasses back on.

it should be reasonably easy.

do you have the ifocus HQ? or the hoya version?

if you have the HQ, the settings i use and love:

Zoom: 74
MF: appx 14

Vdetail: -4

Master Pedestal: +3

Cinegamma on both gamma and matrix

thin detail.

"or the hoya version?"

This model is no longer sold and has been replaced.

Papa I'm not sure what you've done, but if your readings aren't correct then you've twisted the mount/spacer to tight or it's to loose. If it's to tight then try and loosing the mount from the spacer a little bit (now not to much, you don't want your lens to fall of). It should basically be tightened just to wear it locks, maybe a little tighter. :) Same for the rest of the adapter, that's why the numbers are on the bottom now. You don't want to screw the adapter pieces to tight together, after cleaning or upgrading, etc... :)

"I should have put my glasses back on."

I see, yea you're going to need those. :) I want to see some out door footage of that beautiful state, maybe some mountains?

wtv, its really not that significant anyways.

I've been shooting with a bolex in school and yeah, none of the numbers are facing up.

And as for the measuring, i really dont know, i guess the lens is messed up in that sense cause it is quite far off from what it sees as in focus, but again, ive been using my eyes to focus, and if indeed it is useful to pull focus in scenes where its a quick pull, then the number sstill do what they need to as they could be used as markers regardless of the actual distance.

nice footage
there's an HD version now?????

I have the ASIAN version :( that was like 0.0.1 ver

BTW can I ask your xport settings???? .wmv or QT?

It aint a "trick" thats how you focus a film camera. or anythign with lenses that produce a 2" dof.
