Poem, on video

Hey guys, i previously made a thread called a poem, inspired by a sunset, but i screwed it up and posted a 16x9 version of it in youtube which screwed the aspect ratio.

so here is another try.

basically this was shot because my girlfriend needed a picture of a tree on its own, and it happened to be by the water.

i took out my dvx with the ifocus and started shooting. did tons of wacky color correction in camera, and then somehow it inspired a poem which started spilling out.

i decided to find some music to accompany the feeling and put this together. Enjoy!

Man, I had to wipe the tears from my eyes. That was good. If i was a woman I would totally give myself out for you.

I am a fan of the footage. Very beautiful. However, it's a bit sappy for my tastes and that aspect ratio kills me.

The only things I would have done differently, was use different music, and add use the poem as voice-over.

Yeah, I can see a voice-over working really well here. Either way, you still did a good job.

man that was awesome!!!! even with the crappy youtube compressed sound! very Vangelis...epic...

check out my 'love is the most deceptive feeling poem' as well ;)

twiok:

Looks really good and different.

Nice job!

BTW - did you get my last message?

Yeah i did, i can't wait till you ready to unleash that beast :) Im behind you 100% of the way, how can i not? Youve been nothing next to best with this item and customer service.

Andrew - Yeah i can see how it comes off as sappy. But its interesting because like i said, this was totally not something planned. All handheld with my dvx100b and the ifocus from Twiock. Do you understand the message behind it?

"The only things I would have done differently, was use different music, and add use the poem as voice-over.

Different music huh? lol, actually the only source of music i have is from freeplaymusic.com i think. I just went song to song to find something that fitt what i was trying ot portray, and this came up. Loved it instantly. ( for what was available )

And i never tought of making it a voice over. That would be a very nice touch. But since this was just a run and gun, nothing planned. I think i might try to recreate it but with a tripod as well, and an actual idea of what it is im shooting instead of pointing the camera wildly trying to capture the gaze of the sunset.

/And yeah, i wrote the poem. Mostly it was inspired because of all these ideas running through my head of what we perceive is real. I have bene asking myself question time and time again of what truly makes me happy in life. I have for hte longest time been doing anything and everything to becoming a successful actor, and although things are progressing nicely, i keep finding myself asking the question of if it will be the thing that determines how i enjoy my life.

But then i just broke down what it meant to be happy? Is it the things we do? Is it the things we have? Our goals and achievements?

But then i wanted to look past that because those are all things that one can look to achieve. I wanted to look at the things that are brought to our lives that enrichen them. And of course, meeting my girlfriend ( its been almost 2 years now ) its changed my life in so many ways. I have a clearer vision of what my life should be and what my goals should wayne towards. Maybe you guys get the same message :)

peace and love always

that is the gayest thing ive ever heard.

Papa, that was real refreshing to watch. awsome man, awsome.

Thanks for the Post

Papa: I did. Nevertheless, the piece seemed more like a musing than a poem.

And just technical note: the text was difficult to read. Might be the youtube compression.
