Final price of the camera

I am seriously considering taking the plunge but I am a little confused to what is included with the camera and what needs to be pruchased extra and when. Does the red-drive come with the camera (how big) what about teh shoulder mount and figrig adapter. If these are not being shipped out with the camera when will they be available and what can I record onto in the meantime?

ok i see that the electronic vf/red carge/red gun/red-drive are all options for the camera and have to be ordered speratly but when will they be available for purchase and how much. Obviouslly it will be a little difficult to shoot without anything to capture onto. also again what are the sizes available for the hard drives (red drives). If any of these things have been answered I would appreciate it.

No specific release date announced for accessories as far as I know, but I would hope that the RED-DRIVE at least is available at the same time as the camera.

http://red.com/techspecs.htm says 40-160GB for the RED-DRIVE (~90 mins of REDCODE RAW on a 160GB drive) but of course "specs may change etc…". I guess it depends what the largest size of 2.5" SATA drive is which is available when RED ONE ships.

As for the Red Drive, Digital Magazine, or whatever it is to be called, I would expect drive throughput and hardiness (resistance to shock/g-forces etc.) and who knows what else would also be factors they're considering...so not just about size. The stated 24fps 4K RAW throughput is about 28 MB/sec, so 30 fps would be about 35 MB/sec. Checking specs on various websites, the faster 2.5" SATA drives can do about 30-50 MB/sec, depending on where on the platter they are presently writing (drives slow down as they write to the inner tracks). So if there are 160 or 200 or whatever GB drives available at time of release, that is no guarantee that those will be used...

the website format options says you cant even record 4k on an sata drive it says the only availabel option is the red-raid. This is diffrent than the red-drive correct?

The list shows Red has dual link HD-SDI outputs as standard. The AJA Xena board can capture 2k, but not 4k as far as I know. In fact the only 4k SDI systems I've seen advertised are for output to a projector, not for live capture from a camera. It would be interesting to know what hardware the Red team is using to test the HD-SDI outputs, or if they even plan for 4k data to be available via that link. Red seems to be pretty much out in front of the industry infrastructure with the 4k resolution.

4K on-board recording up to 30 fps (new since IBC '06). It is also possible to record to on-board removable (red) flash media
