hmmm...

hmmm...

Well, it doesn't actually specify November of this year, right? Besides, he only says that red.com has the specs of the camera being used, not that it's actually the red camera. Maybe he's got a secret 4k Sony prototype on loan... :)
On the other hand, who says that job-219256513@craigslist.org isn't actually aliased to somewhere within red.com ?

That's just some guy who has absolutely no idea what he's talking about. In other more or less complex words, it's complete bullsh(insert random vowel)t !

Heck, it's even funny to see some guy praising about a product he haven't even touched yet. OKAY. I admit. I'm already praising about it too. A lot. But still, I'm not saying that I'm going to shoot the mysteriously underground fourth Lord of the Rings movie with a cheesy horror twist and naked teenage babes yawning constantly in november with a camera that's not even in production. And I wouldn't especially ask for AE (After Effects, if that's what the guy meant) artists for an HD movie. Hell bloody no. To me HD = Digital Fusion. To me Toasts = Peanut Butter and Jelly. Yes AE does a freakin' great job for SOME stuff. But I still feel limited in all that layering stuff. Anyway...

Screw that, bed time, work tomorrow.

I hope everyone enjoyed this evening's joke.

'night kids.

I'm sure the AE they're referring to means Assitant Editor - not After Effects. ;)

well oddly (or more likely ironically) enough AE is one of the only programs right now that support the 5k resolution of the Red camera... heh heh heh.

.................well I'll be damn!! But still, I'm only planning to shoot at 4k anyway. ;) heheh

Thanks for the hint!!

Somebody, should ask him how he is shooting with a camera that isn't even released. Probably just looking to get some naive person, have them show up somewhere with their equipment, and then beat the crap out of them and take their stuff :)
That's my bike punk!

Yeah... one of the only ones except for:

Combustion, Fusion, Nuke, Shake, Flame, Flint, Smoke, Fire, Inferno, Jaleo, Blender, Commotion, Effeto, XSI, Houdini, Jahshaka, etc etc etc etc.

Actually, I responded to that post. I gave them some information 'cause, hey, maybe they're shooting on SOMETHING and just lying about the RED.

But, I asked them:

I have been watching the RED camera's development for some time now. Considering that the camera will not be released until some time early next year, and wouldn't require digitization from HD tape since it's an all-digital workflow, what camera are you REALLY planning to shoot on?

And the response:

thank you for your interest in our film!
we will be reviewing resumes & reels this week and we'll get back to you early next week

and yes, we will be shooting with RED, we've got connections. but the fact that you know this unusually new camera is a major PLUS!

"Connections." :nads:

just like 90 percent of all hollywood.. this guy is full of ****.

hes giving himself hype that unfortunatly cannot be backed up..

how long till you guys think final cut will release something that is capable of editing some of the larger red formats?

Well, it's sort of an unrelated topic for this thread...

FCP can handle 2K at this point. That said, considering the nature of the entire RED project [top-notch imagery, realistic price... FCP = top-notch editing, realistic price...] it wouldn't surprise me if we see a 4K or 4.5K REDCODE support announcement with [presumably] FCP6 at NAB next year. Who knows, maybe even an Apple 4K+ display.

I made all that up, it's not a rumor.

Somebody should send the dude the link to dvxuser.com and direct him to one of Jim Jannards posts and make him feel like an idiot.
the fact that he knows about red though, and would actually claim what he is claiming is strange. It tells me there is some alterior motive here. Surely a potential hiree that also knows about the red camera would see through this b.s. in a second...
Sounds more like they are going after someone a little less informed, less experienced, etc.
Its kind of wierd... why even claim to be using a red camera. Anyone with anysense knows better, and anyone who doesn't... well, you get it.

Ha. HD Tape... Riiight. The one thing I do hate about the film biz is BS artists.

well you just never know who has "connections" ??
there may be 20 reds out there jan-mar 07 being put thru test ??
and a good test is to use one on a actual production SOOOOOOOOO somebody is going to be using em to shoot something ?
