I agree with you. I don't think that there should be a longer running time, and I also think that some entries were just too long. But the three reasons you gave should be more then enough for anyone to realize that a longer running time would just be too much.
 
Someone posted a 5-second film here a few months back, it was brilliant.

Every year the Super Bowl showcases some amazing 30-second and 60-second films in it (aka commercials).

Five minutes is gobs of time, if you design a story around that time limit and respect the time limit. If you're trying to fit a 20-minute story into a 5-minute container, that's not gonna work. Some types of stories may need that extra time to develop the characters; I'd suggest that those are the wrong kinds of stories for this festival.
 
There's your answer on two things: yes a mod is looking at this thread. No, we're not going to have extended time limits.

I think next fest any posts requesting a longer time limit should be deleted immediately. It always causes a stupid ruckus when the rules have plenty of reasoning behind the time-length.

And one, which isn't in the running, played right through...and I didn't notice it was 14 minutes long until the credits.

You mean that it ran smoothly so you didnt realise the length of the movie, or that it went on and on and on? You can answer of course only if you want to and only if it concers my movie, coz I d love the feedback on this:)

I thought comedy before....but i'm leaning more towards drama now.

any idea when this might be decided? I'm itching to get started on something
 
I don't know if i will enter, regardless of the category. I think I need to make longer things and would like to make a 90 min or over feature to get some experience with my HVX. You never know though...Somehow, when the contest is announced, you just have to participate in some way!:)
 
Got a drama script, got a comedy idea, got no rhythm but that's not about this thread.....

When do you think we'll know about next fest?
