MUSICAL!

I'm musically challenged so this would be very interesting. Plus I don't think any of you can even begin to realize how much I want to make a musical. I also think that would be the most interesting, but probably the hardest.

Comedy would work too though, eh either way. I'm determined to actually finish this contest though, at two failed attempts I guess the third times the charm!

Wow Blaine, you know what makes me tick.
Now it time that we must dance.

Comedy may or may not be harder to pull off than drama. For drama to work, you need really good actors and really good dialogue. For a short comedy flick, people can just ham it up and get away with it. I think a comedy-fest will just be out-and-out fun, both to make the films, and to watch them.

I voted for Drama.

For those of us without VFX talents it would be great to be able to film a classic drama and focus on the story.

Chris

I'm thinking drama because it has a lot more options as far as themes, time periods, locations, etc. You could do a western drama, a drama set in england in the 1900s, or a drama on a distant planet and the characters happen to be aliens (I think people are narrowing their idea of what a drama could be, it doesn't have to be two people in a room talking about how life sucks)... but, with that said, to do a good drama in 6 minutes may present a challenge.

Well maybe not neccessarily narrowing the idea of drama but, vfx can be time
consuming. I myself would like to focus more on story developement and characters
rather than cc, compositing, rendering etc.

Clarification - we tried to get Melanie to wear a magenta colored bra for her
chracter, but couldn't ask her to buy one because they are expensive, hence
Brandon asked how much they cost. Phew.

Ahhh! :dankk2:

We could all, since we are on the subjects of bras, have a

SEX IN THE CITY

fest? ha haha haha

I think the past fest have been mainstream entertainment themes - not in a bad way, but films from separate fests still feel similar to me - might be interesting to have a complete change of pace..

1. Documentary
2. Dogme 95 (or some modification thereof - not in total agreement on some points)
3. Silent/ No dialogue
4. Long Take, no cuts at all.

any other bizarre suggestions

Now that would be fun. Maybe have 6 minute time limit with only 3 cuts allowed. I'm not sure it would work as a DVXuser fest, but fun all the same.

all interesting ideas.
