Hey B-man, I liked it. For something thrown together in such a short amount of time, I thought it was sweet... :)

Thanks man... I hope even if I never said how short a time I did it in, you'd still dig it  word

Very nice ..liked the music, your editing skills are top notch, and you have a way with the camera that keeps you interested in the film..nice

thanks dude! :) I like that you said I have a way with the camera... cool. :) I guess you just develop a certain way of doing things after doing it for awhile! thanks for checking it out dude!

I like the small campy fun stuff. I wish I could do more of those films.

That's great that you just decided to get out and "shoot it" with your bro.

I felt he did a nice job - the dirtiness worked for me. A typical young kid, playing in his backyard/playground. Totally worked.

Cin - editing are always nice. I have to say this film is probably the 'nicest' looking of your shorts. You are definitely moving forward!

Good luck in the future - glad to see you came up with something with such little time.

thanks a bunch man! :) I am glad you dug the look, I hope I am progressing. Check out my BIG project, Smuggler's Ransom, when you have some time :) After all this horrorfest festivities are done :)

Anytime, i'll be checking out Smugglers ransom for sure:)

Brandon, FX and score turned out awesome! Man, I'm glad I didn't do them :) hehehe Mine would have been over the top campy.

I thought your brother did a great job and you should buy him a six pack of dr. peppers or something.

cheers!

Brandon I was definetly looking forward to yours! and you without a doubt came through with a great peice! Great angles, and your brother did a hell of a job! He tells the whole story with his eyes! and of course your snazzy camera work. Congrats

This just proves either you play with a ball...or you swing....never both at the same time. Otherwise we see what can happen.
Very cool title at the beginning and all the sounds were great on my Bose headphones.
I would have liked to see a few words out of your bro...just to mix it up a bit.
Nice job.

Thanks so much, both of you for checking our film out. Glad you enjoyed it as well! I am already thinking of some ideas for my lil' bro to be in my next short!

nice work, brandon! what stunned me the most was the way you sifted your brother into a thousand pieces and threw him through the hole in the ground.

i know a magician never reveals his tricks, but damn... i must know. after effects, i presume. (i think i saw a tutorial on this once... but the black smoke!?)
i love it, man. i simply love it!

Great little short there, Bricey! Well-shot, expertly edited, and some pretty darn good acting. Well done for such a short prep/shoot schedule!

Hi Brandon,

As you're working overtime to supply reviews for everyone here, I felt it only courteous to make yours my first review.

Things I liked : really nice build-up. Loved the way the short went from full saturation to something more sinister and desaturated in a few steps. A simple idea where tension was built up very nicely.

Things I didnt like : I didnt feel it paid off very well, and the tribal music began to become more contradictory than complementary to the piece. Finally, I think the special effect threw me at the end. To me it just stood out from the mood of the piece and if you dont mind me saying so, spoilt the atmos that you had built up at that point.

Overall though I feel it shows that you know how to build a scene well.

In addition I feel that geniunely you're a person that cares about film on here and is willing everyone to be better. You dont just take the opportunity to showcase you're own work, but to learn, comment, and encourage others - particualrly in this horrorfest. You have a good attitude to film-making and I think you will get a lot better very quickly.

Guys, you want to know how to make in 1 day a perfect little movie that is 100% solid in all areas? Watch this one!!!!!

I was totally astounded by what I saw. There are not a lot of things to say about this one...its not scary, its not horror...but its one of the best pieces of works I've seen ever.

The score is excellent and it escalates very nicely. The cinematography rocks hard! Your brother is a TALENT!!! I loved your shots, especially some close-ups!!

As for the final VFX....its one of the best in here but it didnt fit with the mood...it was like Tron meets Star Trek...great work as a VFX but not for this movie. Seeing what you wanted to do here, my suggestion would be to make the disintegration darker, more shadowy.....or maybe use a hand that grabbed him in a way out of that hole (if possible of course). All this I'm saying because it wasnt really scary but it didnt put me off.

Brandon you really know your craft man!

Thanks so much for commenting. I am trying to do my best to get a lot of these reviews out asap. Haven't gotten to your film yet, will soon though! :)

Thanks again for the comments. Seems the music choice is pretty 50/50, some love it, some don't. Personally I feel it adds tension and uneasiness to the piece.

Hm. You said the special effect at the end threw you. We worked to make the effect there pretty seamless, and this is the first comment I've gotten on someone not liking it.

Thanks again for the review, and I do indeed care about film. A lot. I hope I continue to improve in all areas, technically, and creatively. Thanks again!

Dude, you rock! I totally don't deserve the praise :) Thanks man...

Glad to hear you liked the score! It's one of the strong points IMO! And yes, my bro was great, and as I said, I am already coming up with some ideas in how to use him in my next short, or feature.

Interesting to hear you felt the same way about the effect. I really dug it myself, felt demonic to me, I don't know.

Thanks again so much for checking the film out. I still gotta get to yours too, I will for sure! Thanks again!

Hey man, glad you liked the effect at the end! This is another one that seems 50/50, some like, some don't :)

You'll have to get a hold of Steve (dvxuser Steve_Arm) and ask him about the effect, he's the man behind the magic :)

For the VFX, my brother (who did music/sounds for mine) is watching the movies himself and we discussed them over the phone...we talked about your VFX and he shared the same opinion, it is a nice vfx, well handled and executed but we get thrown out of the right mood with it...i m glad you like it coz that's what counts but I'm just telling you this as an opinion, nothing more.
