Losing the Metal R

This is a little off topic but...

I made my reservation this week, and I'm in the second stage as of now. All I have to do is confirm my reservation, and they said they would send me a metal "R". However, it said if I wanted to cancel the reservation I would have to return the "R" to get my deposit back. I believe the Red team will deliver on the camera, but a lot can change for me in six months. So what happens if I need the deposit back but lose the metal "R". How much is that metal "R" worth?

$500.. thats the price of the R. so keep it in a safe place!

Its a hand finished solid titanium part made in limited numbers, individually serialized with your camera number. Its actually very valuable on its own without its official purpose.

Do they have a purpose beyond looking awesome?

heh heh.. no its not the key for your camera.. we should actually have a contest to whoever can find the best use for it.

Actually, I was reading this email I got from Red, and it seems like everything has gone through already with the reservation. I guess what they sent me was a receipt. For the people who already made their reservation, am I suppose to Fax this thing back to them?

Yeah Deadzone, print out your contract (receipt), sign/date and fax it their fax number at the bottom of the sheet. I just faxed mine off today. Good luck.

$500! damn that's an expensive paper weight... Gotta love it, awesome. Talking of which do they take a month or two to get to the UK. Mine hasn't turned up as of yet.

The R will be cool once in my hands, i'm sure, but is it a present? Its price is included in the 17500? Can i have the possibility to refuse it and have a 500 discount?
I feel like i'm buying a camera and receive a jewel

It makes you wonder how much they'll be worth in the future. Depending on whether the camera dissappears into history or it is labelled as the beginning of the era that see's the end for film for most motion pictures... they could fetch a pretty penny for our retirement funds :). I can just picture the antiques roadshow of 2080 lol!

if you miss it, you can just get one of these

all depends on how you look at it ..
the 1st 1000 reservations get the "R" for free with their camera .. persons that buys 1001 pays 17,500 and begs for a R to be thrown in BUT they're not going to get one unelss the persons that don't want them SELL them their "R" - so the serial numbers don't match ...

my R looks really good hanging on the dining room wall ...

How long do you think it will take til Jacob the jeweler encrusts the holes with diamonds and sells one to Diddy? Personally, I am waiting for the matching Oakley chain and keep it "RAW" on the set . DIG:Drogar-Smoke(DBG):

I'm ok with my R631. My financial partners will not be so enthusiast:
Meeting room, 4 people around the table, three are wearing suits, one not.
"so you bought a jewel, hu?"
