I am definitely thinking comedy. Its easily accessible to everyone. You dont need costumes, sfx, hell you dont even need good locations. It will come down to script and direction.

I'm totally down for it. Shame I suck bananas at comedy.

You'd be surprised how many people are right with you in that pit.

I voted for romance/comedy mainly because I came up with one years ago for some friends for school and never ended up making it.

If it wasn't for that it would be: Comedy, action/adventure, then Christmas.

I think musicals could be really funny but I HATE musicals. Although I do think that if it were to be a fest, A lot of people would enter and it would end up being really funny.

I think the spoof fest is a great idea. It opens up any genre and gives anyone a chance to spoof their favorite or most hated movies.

What ever is decided upon by Barry will be good. They always have been before.

I would rather pay for the DVD instead of paying to enter the contest. I think one of the things that makes the contest unique and good is that it's free.

If we do comedy, you could do a spoof. It wouldn't be nessecary. Iunno the action/adventure just seems really hard to do. You'll need props for certain, stunts, maybe squibs, a lot of locations.... Not to mention it will be hard to pack action and adventure into 6 minutes. But comedy on the other hand...

Though musical would be a challenge, I think for the genre itself to find
'talent' who can do both acting and singing, as it is, there will be many in this
horrorfest that had trouble finding good actors.

I also think that any action, martial arts will call upon special effects experts
and that's also a handful here who can pull that off.

No different if you had a war genre short or crime action. The use of weapons,
kung-fu, etc. is still more of the same.

I would think, that if you want to include a VAST MAJORITY of filmmakers, that
we should do drama, more so than comedy. Comedy is the hardest genre to
write and pull off, and though you might consider it a challenge, I think that
drama (which isn't my genre) would include most dvxusers.

Scifi was a select few. Herofest the same, hard to do those special effects.
Horror, because blood is easy to manipulate, easier to pull off and thus
you have more entries.

If however you want a contest in which to include everyone and his brother
and sister, then I suggest drama because that is the broadest genre out
there.

My vote of course would be action suspense, but that's too limited and not
broad enough for the community.

You want a real contest? Then pick a genre that almost everyone from every
country can participate that's not too difficult to write and film - drama.

It would also provide a great opportunity to take a stab a Film Noir...schweetheart :Drogar-Smoke(DBG):

I agree with everything Charli said. Although film noir would be ultra-fun.
