Copying a P2 volume back to a P2 card: Is it possible??

I've tried to copy P2 footage back onto a P2 card so that the camera can possibly replace some missing XML files for two clips. It seems the camera doesn't let you do this (which is silly; let me the USER do whatever I want!), but has anyone had luck actually copying files from a computer onto a P2 card?
 
I've heard its hard to do on a mac, but on a PC its quite easy.. You need to copy the contents folder and the lastclip.txt to get it to work, you can just drag the files.. (as far I as know)
 
I have copied several times the contents of a card to/from my powerbook. It didn't make a difference to the camera. However, they were always complete so I'm not sure what happens if files are missing.
