Hi,

I thought that I was editing nativley but looking at the the sequence preset (not the capture which is 1920x1080) it only seems to allow you to edit at 1440x1080.
Whilst under 'Frame size' under the sequence settings i can customize the size to 1920x1080 FCP-2.jpg

But under pixel aspect i can only choose a max size of 1440x1080 FCP-Sequence-preset.jpg

If i view the sequence properties of DVCPRO-HD 1080i 50 it says it is 1440x1080

Is it possible to edit at 1920x1080? If not does this mean that it won't be as good for film out? Let me know of any problems that could arise from this in an ideal world.

Thanks if you can help :)

You're all well.

Untill Red is out, almost no camera records to a format that is actually 1920 (even though the sensors can). DVCPRO HD is an anamorphic format. Trust your sequence settings and edit at your hearts delight.

Quickie rundown:

HDV 1080i/p is 1440x1080, 8 bit, 25mbit

HDV 720p is 1280x720 (only full raster low cost tape format), 8 bits/channel, 19mbit datarate

DVCPRO HD 720p is 960x720, 8 bit, 100mbit for 60p, 50mbit for 30p, 40mbit for 24p

DVCPRO HD 1080i60 is 1280x1080, 8 bit, 100 mbit

DVCPRO HD 1080i50 is 1440x1080, 8 bit, 100 mbit

HDCAM is 1440x1080, 8 bit, 180 mbit (I think)

D-5 is the first full raster format - 1920x1080, 10 bit, 4:2:2 only (as are all above), I forget the data rate, but it is high, something like 240mbit

HDCAM SR - 1920x1080, 10 bit 4:2:2 or 4:4:4, 440 or 880 mbit, 880 mbit is 10 bit 4:4:4 only

Not Quite!
HDV is not 4:2:2. It is only 4:2:0
