capturing 720/60p footage

i just shot some test footage with the hvx200 using my 8gig p2 card and its my first time trying to capture it myself, how do you actually import the footage from the p2 card via firewire to your mac g5 w/ fcp? it will not let me capture it. i dont have the manual with me its at my partners house so i'm sitting here trying to figure this out
 
Put the camera in PC mode (toggle to VCR mode and then hold down the mode button for three seconds). If you've installed the P2 drivers on your G5, the camera's cards should pop up on your desktop as "no name" volumes.

Then go into FCP 5.0.4 or later (5.1.1 preferred) and choose file->import->panasonic P2.
 
ahah, my partner probably has the install disk for the p2 drivers for my G5 which is probably why it isnt working. thanks barry, i apreciate it!
 
I have found that you do not need the P2 drivers for the G5; you only need them for Powerbooks or Mac Book Pro. My G5 mounts P2 perfectly without having installed drivers.
