Artifacts

Hi

I´ve got my HVX about three weeks ago and had no time to play with it - too much work. But yesterday i had a free afternoon and so i got my babe into its case and went out to shoot a few tests.
And when i looked at it at my 24" Dell it looked awfull. The most sharp edges have horrible artifacts dancing around them... is this the codec or my cam?
please help - i´m so sad ... :(

i´ve a hvx200 pal and the firestore (with v2 firmware from last week) recording in 1080i,p and 720p - always the same.

ps: when i go over component direct to the dell it looks awsome! ... :(

thanks for any advise

If you search for "Dell" in these forums, you'll see that they are an extremely poor monitor for judging video.

You specified the component feed looks fine but didn't say what kind of feed looked bad on the monitor.

If you like the component feed then the problem isn't the camera.

It wouldn't be the codec.

Dell produces poor image according to others.

You might want to explain what "looks awesome" means.

Awesome doesn't rock anymore as a description.

thank you guys! the problem was the user :)
i loaded the footage into my avid and everything looked fine. then i clicked the little button at my head where stands "think" and then i went back to the P2 Viewer (here it produced the horrible pictures in fullscreen) and searched for a setting called "half resolution on full screen". Now it won´t play back in "nearly realtime" anymore , but it looks "awsome" again ;)
awsome is just a description of "i´m really impressed and happy with the output of my camrea"

long story short: forget about this little interruption  and thanks once more.

regarding the dell: i´m happy with it - particularly because it is so big and was so cheep. but i´m searching for a monitor for my camera too ... any advises?
