music video Letus35- NOT metal...

Finished a rough cut of my next music video, using the DVX100a and the letus35 beta (oh yeah... old school, baby).

I'm still learning this whole music video thing (we're always learning, I guess), so I would love ANY sort of feedback/advice.

Right click and save-as... it will download WAY faster than streaming it for some reason. It takes FOREVER if you just click on it... anyone know why?
EDIT: http://www.lloydchoi.com/videos/mygirljunelarge.mov

And if you could answer this question: were you confused at the end? Or was it clear enough?

thanks

That was strangely cool. I liked it. Shallow DOF looks good.
As far as the end... I guess I get it. I don't want to say what I think till a few more ppl check it out (no spoilers).

That was awesome! Finally, I see a music vid on this site which is totally story
based (no bands showing). Loved the look as well, beautiful images(I'm liking the letus more and more). It was
quite funny as well, the shot where he is riding down the road with the skeleton
up front is hilarious.
You did a great job!

From a technical standpoint it was great - great images, great use of dof, great cuts, etc. However...do i detect more than a subtle hint of necrophilia? Because damn..thats...sick.

thanks for the kind words! Smettli, on that day, we definitely got some funny looks from the locals. Wish we taped the looks of every passerby :)

Necrophilia? wasnt meant on any sexual level... but I guess some people will think that way. And no, I'm not a necrophiliac.

The way the song, the mood of the song, and lyrics are set up, the typical MV concept of the boy/girl would fit perfectly. But if I did it generically, it would just be like any other video, and I want each video to be unique. So, why not a skeleton?

Keep the feedback coming!

excellent video! the letus ROCKS!!!

also, i have a question about the letus35. will i need a rail system to support it? just the regular $300 letus35... if someone could pm me the answer that would rock.

Toaster. It was just me for the most part. Had a second person for the bike stuff (my Mom :) )

thekyleman, I don't use a rail system for mine. It's the beta version, so I believe it's smaller than flip. It's what I LOVE about the letus, you can just run and gun it without some massive beast on your shoulder. However, I saw some Brevis35 stuff and it looks ridiculously sharp and clean. Will probably get one of those for the HVX when I get one.... which will probably be 10 years from now.

Great Video. What Shutter speeds and F stops settings did you use? Overall nice work. I love the colors and the concept.

Thanks Jericho. I used various shutter speeds based on whether I wanted slo-mo or not. I also shot 60i for some things, and I used 1/250 for that. Also shot 30p using 1/120.

F-stops... eyed it.

Great job. I like the song, too. finally a non-metal video! The skeleton in the bike basket was hilarious!

Thanks Mistercat...

funny thing, none of those shots were meant to be funny. It was supposed to be a serious video :)

It's the swinging legs that make it funny. If you'd have duct taped them down to immobilize them, now that would have created a completely different vibe of drama. But the swinging of course is standard skeleton comedy. :D

Serious absurdity is always funny, at least I think so :)
