Sony Vs. Red? Sony's early response to Red?

How hard is it to build a 4k projector? Could RED do it the same way the have with the camera? In time... NAB 2007... What could be the price? 17500$? I really think SONY need some competition in the 4k market.

Wow, I'm so glad to hear that Sony reversed their decision! Just shows the POWER OF RED!!! Alright Red team, flex the muscles a little (or maybe your already did that, LOL).

In general as a whole, we the consumer have the real muscle...Don't forget, Sony sells TV's, phones ,computers, game systems and a whole host of other products. This means we could do more damage to sony than RED ever could!

"It is my humble opinion that our camera is a perfect match for Sony's projector. And a mutual presentation would be in the best interests of both companies and the future of the industry."

My opinion is the same - concerning the projector and the future of the industry. However, the Red's influence on Sony's high-end camera market could be (and probably will) a whole different issue.

"Red will most likely help sell 4k projectors regardless though.. if they are friends or foes it wont matter much... so Im not sure why Sony is taking this somewhat public road...."

I think Sony doesn't need Red to help selling of the projectors. Although Monitor and Camera department are separated, it would be logical that the company's m.o. doesn't include helping competition defeat their own products.

All the complication with sudden change of decision seems kind of childish, though. A bit strange for a company of that caliber. If they had issues with Red they shouldn't have made arrangements in the first place.

The companies will eventually learn that the evolution can't be avoided.
The cost of slowing it down could be high.

Go Red.

I would not be surprised if this was only the first shot (across the bow).
Hopefully all your manufacturers are Sony-independent.
