167 hours on dvx? Time to clean heads?

I just checked my dvxa and it says I've put 167 hours on it. Although I haven't been having any problems with tapes getting messed up, I think it's time to get them professionally cleaned. Does anyone know the best place to have this done? I live in Boston.

Thanks,

Mike

eh.. whatever happened to that section with the procedures for cleaning the heads with the foamy material...forgot what it's called...

I have 600hrs on mine and no problems with recording.

save yourself some money and learn to do it yourself. Really it's worth it. For under 10 bucks you can buy the swabs and cleaner. do a search on cleaning heads and you'll find an excellent tutorial on how to do it. I just did it and it worked out great!

No need to clean the heads unless you get a "dirty heads" warning from the camera or see any dropouts or clog.

Simply put: you can't clean it if its not dirty!

Thanks for the info guys. Does anyone disagree that I should only clean the heads when the camera warns me or when it get dropouts?
