will the AF version of the lens work just as well, or will there be a difference in quality?

From my experience in owning the 50mm 1.2, 50mm 1.4, 50mm 2 and a 55mm 1.2, I can easily say that the best all around is the 50mm 1.2.adaml said:Mr. Blonde, have you used the 50mm 1.2 for cinema work? I'm curious because I've read mixed reviews of it. I asked about it on another thread but got no response. I'll quote myself:
"The factors that would seem to weigh against it (based on reviews, not experience) are field curvature, potential softness wide open (I've read conflicting opinions on this, but seen some very nice still images), and very narrow dof (about 3" I'm told). On the other hand, 1.2 would be nice to have occasionally."
I've also ready that it has lower contrast than other 50s. I'm asking because I have an opportunity to buy one (ai) in really nice shape, and have to decided between it and a 1.4.
Thanks.
With all the Nikon glass that I own, I can easily sell and make back about $3,000, that can surely help out with my much needed RED funding account.evinsky said:Why, they represent such a small investment in the scheme of things and may offer a diffrent look, or at least a more compact shooting option or mounting or steadi-cam. Certainly buy the Red zoom, I know I will but I'm not selling anything. I've made that mistake many times before. A $1000 in Nikkors will give you many extra options in addition to the Red zoom.
