Lots of new XLH1 footage!

Went to Kirkland in Washington today with my trusty XLH1. Here's some shots...some seem a little dark on the computer screen but they look great on the plasma. Also, this is directly out of the camera so I haven't played with anything in post yet. I'm getting happier with my settings although the color is a little intense for me so I'll be knocking that down a notch or two. When I have finally settled on a look I like, I'll post the settings.

Remember, these are just pretty crude tests so I wasn't watching things like horizon lines, etc. :) All footage is shot in 24f. All handheld with OIS turned on. All settings on manual. Shutter speed varied from 1/48 to 1/500.

My special thanks to Shane at on the new XL forum for allowing me to use his server space. Please right click and save these puppies and spare Shane a headache.

Enjoy!

the image is fantastic, very nice compositions but it's jittering on my computer. is this 24f from canon? or a bad setting in my mpegstreamclip? what setting should i use for the output in streamclip by the way? thanx!

VERY nice footage, disjecta. I'll be sure to pm you about your camera settings when I get my canon XH A1.

Delaro, MPEGstreamclip plays back MT2 files jittery. Always have, even on fast machines like my Macbook. Therefore, fire up MPEGstreamclip to be used as a conversion tool only.

For simple footage viewing, instead use the VLC player. Every HDV owner/editor should have this installed on their computer. It's the best way to kick back & watch HDV footage on PC and MAC right now: www.videolan.org/vlc

thanx for your answer but i'm not playing the file directly in mpegstreamclip. i'm using this software to convert the m2t in hdv or h264. the jitter is when i play the converted file in quicktime, real player, etc.

Hello Disjecta,

When I load your file the name put txt at the end and I can't see the clip.

"crosswalk.m2t.txt" is the file save on my desktop when I control load.

Do you know what this mean ?

Just make it : "crosswalk.m2t" and you should be ok.

Just delete the .txt from the file name and leave it as a .m2t--it should play in VLC without problems.

click on the end of the filename and you should get a blinking cursor. backspace/delete the ".txt" and it should rename the file with only the .m2t extension. This should open up in VLC.

i don't know why it doesn't work.. i change the extension and it is the same.. i mean: it's not about this .txt but related to a mpeg file (footage from IBC)

can you help me with a solution elton?

Maybe try renaming it to .mpg and it might work.

I generally watch all the raw .m2t's on the Mac w/VLC, and each time I downloaded a file that had a ".txt" added to the filename, I simply deleted the extra extension and never had a problem.

Thanks Elton,

But when I simply deleted the .txt at the end it is not working properly, I had to change it with .mpeg extension and then it work perfectly.
