Any suggestions / examples of creative sports footage out there ? Previously Ive used Canopus Imaginate for a groovy slide show thing, this year I want to kick it up a notch. .Outpout will be to SD DVD. . THanks !

What the heck does AYSO mean? Any hooters, I'm assuming that you are in desperate need for video editing software.

I suggest that you find someone with an Apple Mac computer so you can use their simple to use "iMovie", or if you have Windows, use their video editing software. I forgot the title of the program. Just look for it in Windows Help.

Here are the top ten video editing software for PC's of 2006:

1st - PowerDirector - $79.95
2nd - ShowBiz DVD - $99.99
3rd - Ulead Video Studio - $99.99
4th - Premiere Elements - $99.99
5th - Easy Media Creator - $79.99
6th - Pinnacle Studio Plus - $79.99
7th - WinDVD Creator - $69.99
8th - Nero Ultra Edition - $79.99
9th - Vegas Movie Studio DVD - $89.95
10th - DVD Movie Factory - $49.99

Soccer? Don't you mean football?

Yep my team has started superbly and has won ther first three matches!

When I was doing a few things with vide on the PC I used Ulead Video Studio. Cheap and cheerful and worked fine.

Couple o' things, doublebaron727:

1. Don't be rude. If you don't know what AYSO is, Google it, it works remarkably well.
2. Don't yell.
3. Be informed before you respond. If you had any experience with the HVX, you would know that none of the programs you mentioned are capable of editing the high-definition video produced by the HVX200.

THoff, although you are correct about none being able to edit high definition, he said his end product was SD DVD. The results from past comparisons says that DVC50 is the best HVX mode to shoot for SD footage. I have seen stills from Barry with DVX, HVX DV, HVX DV50, HVX720p downconverted to SD, and HVX1080i downconverted to SD. The best quality was DV50 in my opinion.

I would recommend taking a look yourself, do a search for barry's comparison.

Yes, and none of those programs will edit DVCPro50 -- it is a high-definition format, and can only be recorded to P2 cards in MXF containers.

I was actually looking for some actually CREATIVE footage of youth sports, not the editors. I want to make it interesting and fun, not just another slide show. . .and I want to integrate the HVX200 slo-mo ability. .

The recent post of the motocross

also gave me some ideas - its just hard because it's soccer. . ..

I find it interesting that you don't mention Avid Xpress Pro doublearon as it's not only widely considered the best PC NLE but also is the only one that can handle native MXF files.

There are at least three PC NLEs that have native support for MXF files.

In alphabetical order, they are Avid Xpress Pro, Canopus Edius Broadcast 4, and Matrox Axio.

And what about the 50 percent or more of us out here who edit on Macs with FCP. Maybe it's even higher than that, but I'd bet it's atleast 50 percent of all editors are on it... And personally, I'd say that 90 percent of the editors I know cut on Macs...

Nope, DVCpro50 is standard definition, the rest is true for the HVX.
Dusterdoo, even if you weren´t looking for the editing apps, considering you did slideshows so far, I wanne note that you might shoot DV to tape with the HVX.
Editing DV is easy, and when you own P2 cards you could also record slomos in 720p and downconvert to DV tape with the HVX.
For the video: maybe do some interviews with the kids or let them introduce themselves and intercut with fast edited clips from the various games and trainings - I on´t thing you´ll have to reinvent the wheel here...
Good luck!

I know the spatial resolution of DVCPro50 is the same as DV25 and DVCPro, but it has twice the color resolution and requires twice the bandwidth, which is why I don't think of it as a SD format.

I always wonder how something can be "widely considered" as the best of anything.

Who exactly is making that consideration?
