Casino Royale

looks pretty good :D

and i don't doubt craig will do a good job. i loved him in "road to perdition"

I guess when this goes to DVD it will sit on the shelf next to the 1967 acid trip parody by the same name, Casino Royale...

An all-star cast, lost in a psychedelic haze.

David Niven & Peter Sellers

AND officially licensed as a BOND film. Ian Fleming wrote the book.

I'm very excited about Casino Royale, though the continuity issues worry me a bit. From what I've read, the movie isn't intended to be a prequel to the other films, but instead more of a new beginning for the series -- sort of how Batman Begins was. I really don't like that idea, but there are still ways to reconcile the continuity errors:

Judi Dench plays M, but of course we all know her character didn't come along until Goldeneye. But what if one thinks of the position of "M" as a political position, similar to the DA on the Law And Order series'? Then one can simply assume that she held the job in the past, but lost out to Bernard Lee's character for the position, and didn't regain it until later...

As for Q, Dr. No didn't feature the character, nor did any of the books, so I don't think we have to worry about a young Q showing up for no reason. And considering this is supposed to be a more serious film, I doubt they'd bring back John Cleese.

Of course, the biggest continuity issue is the fact that in order to take place before Dr. No, the movie would have to be set in the 50's or so, which it clearly isn't. I can put this aside, though, as time really isn't ever an issue in the Bond films. Aside from a few Cold War references now and then, and technology getting better, one never really knows the exact date in any of the films. So it is perfectly reasonable to suspend disbelief a bit as far as dates go. And considering that James Bond always stays roughly the same age, yet Q gets older, Moneypenny gets younger, and Felix Leiter changes height, race, and persona in almost every film, I think we can let it go...

A group of James Bond fans have launched a Web site, www.craignotbond.com, to protest Craig replacing Pierce Brosnan in the 007 film franchise, and to boycott "Casino Royale," slated for release November 17.

i personally think he will be SO much better than Pierce Brosnan.

what do you think?

who would be better than Craig?

I don't think there's been a James Bond since Sean Connery.

To answer the second part of your question. If I HAD to go with someone I thing Clive Owen would be okay.

When I saw the original trailer for CR, it was the first time 007 seemed spooky to me. He's definetly different, but I welcome the change.

Craig will rock out. He's a good actor, and this looks like a serious Bond film. While Brosnan made a good Bond the series had become a total cartoon and more about toys than character.

This guys cool because he's not such an obvious pick, like the last two, or three. Plus he might have been Sienna Miller's revenge Phuck on that little puke Jude Law.

I had reservations at first but after watching Craig in Munich was sold.

I think this one is in good hands with Martin Campbell (Goldeneye, Zorro)

I love all the Bonds. Cant wait for this.

There's alot of fans who have nothing better to do than get their panties in a bunch over who they want or don't want to be Bond. Who cares I'm sure the movie will rock regardless of who is slated to play him. As long as there are Bond films there will always be a change. And I seriously doubt any of those half-wits Who are complaining on the website won't go see the new installment.:kali: Who wouldn't? It's Bond after all.:)

OK,... Then I vote Pee Wee Herman to play Bond.

True but when you do have to make a change, typically you want to change for the better.

Maybe they might. I won't spend a dime of my money to see it. I might watch it if someone gets the dvd or somthing. Just because it's Bond does not make it good. Timothy Dalton proved that.

so for those talking smack about D Craig as 007 tell me, what is the problem? seriously, how is he a bad choice? please explain yourselves. have you seen him in Layer Cake? Munich? he is a really good actor.
