This music video is for a local band here in North Carolina, who contacted me months after seeing my first music video for Sanctity who recently just got signed by a major label. The majority of the performance was shot in 60i and 30p for the slow tempo look. The narrative, was in 24p. They were stoked with the final product.. that makes me happy lol. Of course props to dvxuser, I pretty much learn everything at this forum.

Here is a Behind the Scenes Video the band made

Dude you CRUUUUUSHED it!

Serious man, good job. You put a lot into post and it shows. What do you like best for your junk mattes and film effects?

EXCELLENT music video. Probably the best I've seen on these boards. I didn't want to take my eye's off the screen, cause I didn't want to miss anything.

We need details. Lighting setup for the main band scene? fire scene's? How'd you make the 60i look so good? any custom settings on the 60i?

The ONLY thing that I'd critique, was that near the begining you got a little trigger happy with the "flash" cuts. A tad distracting. Also... I'm not really sure what the story was, but in all honesty, I don't really care because the visuals were so good.

nice job.

Out-fricken-standing, Hiro! Heck, you could probably sell a DVD just on the making of this bad boy! I know I'd buy it! :)

What was the budget on this?

Real nice job !!!!
I'd like to know how you did this overexposed film look; You know this green and white flash lights we see on the right side of the frame and the orange light that cross the frame. Did you build it or did you find some stock footage with it ?
I'd really like to find some of this for my next little montage.
Tanks and bravo again

wow, that was way too awesome man! :)

this is the kind of production value i'm aiming for on my next piece.

what kind of budget did you have to work with?

I'm always being inspired by the things I see on this website, and this is no exception! WOW! Hell of a vision you had for this video, and it came out great!

Yo. hey I'll try to give as much info as I can.. I dont mind sharing :) ...........but I won't disclosed the budget cuz...I'd like to leave that up to the imagination.... Regardless of what the budget was.. the project itself was very ambitious for the budget, good thing we own all our equipment.. which isn't much. We had enough to buy everyone their own bottle of coke, redbull and dominos pizzas!

We had one Fresnel light that kevin Peeples borrow from a church, the rest were work lights from lowes with black wrap. I'll be back with more details.. I actually thought about making a dvd on "how to make a music video" .. except nobody shot any BTS..

The weird orange and green flashes .. are shots of me waving the camera up in the air, its about 1-2 secs long, the shot was smoke from the cigarette and the fog that was in the air.. I put this shot on the track and set the composite mode (vegas 6) to overlay, and colored it. Under the track was what I wanted my shot to be. Hope this helps?! I did this by accident..

Yowza!

Yowza!

Ok ok keep the budget under wraps but what were the specifics as far as the duration of the shooting and the time spent in post. That was a truly impressive video. Good job.

Thanks for the answer, but i just stopped smoking. How can I do those nice little lights effects without relapse ??

wow. i would kill to be eable to put something like that together.

very well done.

i want you to send me your project file :)

The date of the shoot was in JUNE 24 & 25.
This was a two day project. The first day we had to take care of the performance part of the music video and the 2nd, the narrative.

The first day started at 8AM, band showed up at 1PM, we rolled camera at 2PM, shot all the indoor stuff and at 8PM we had to move the set to outside which took 3 hours because all of our equipment. We wrapped around 2-3 AM.

Sunday we woke up at 11AM and didn't start shooting til 2 PM which lasted til 11PM.

Post production - July 6th-14th
POST was all me, I didn't really keep track on how long I worked on it. But I would say at least over 50 hours on this. We had three cameras, and that yield about 12 tapes. There was plenty of footage to work with.

hope this helps.
