Was it ever determined if Newegg.com is authorized?

I mean, they have a great price on the 100b for $3199. In their description it has the book and rebate listed as well. Has anyone purchased the 100b from them? Did you get your rebate? Thanks.

I asked Jan this and she said sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

I wish it was a fact which one it was, because that would help me make up my mind.

i've bought stuff from newegg...not a dvx, but computer stuff and haven't had any problems. anytime i need something they're the first place i look.

They're not an authorized Panasonic dealer. So they may have bought authorized product from an authorized dealer, or they may have bought gray-market, there's no real way to know. Nobody's making any sort of comment on Newegg's reputation or character, only pointing out that they don't have any relationship with Panasonic and cannot buy cameras from Panasonic, so they buy them where they can. If their source is an authorized USA dealer then it's okay and you'll get the rebate etc. If their source is somewhere else, then you won't get that stuff.

Oh no, I just bought my camera from them. On their website they advertise the rebate, dvx book, and software. Any suggestions on what I should do?

I'm shopping myself and have gone to resellers.com for positive feedback on Newegg.com. I would be interested to hear your experience after you get your camera, ie. did it come as promised, did you get the rebate, book, etc. :dankk2:

Newegg is a great dealer for computer equipment, I've bought from them many times. Others have reported getting authorized units from them. I'd say wait and see what shows up, then check the serial number with Jan (send her a PM). If it's an authorized unit, keep it. If it's a gray-market import, I'll bet NewEgg will let you return it. I wouldn't make that bet on any of the scam shops, but NewEgg seems very legit.

That sounds like a good idea Barry.

I wonder if you could call NewEgg and ask them to tell you the serial number of the item you plan to buy before they ship it to you so you could ask Jan.

I doubt it.

Is shipping free if you have to ship back to NewEgg for any reason?

Thanks,
Drew

Is there a database of valid USA serial numbers anywhere? It would be nice... some of the people on ebay photo that side of the camera. How does Jan check?

I got mine from Newegg and recieved my book and dvd and software and got my check a couple of weeks ago. It was a crap shoot but well worth it. $2800 after rebate.

Same here. I purchased my DVX100B from NewEgg last month, and I received my book/software a couple weeks after filling out the online rebate form. I am still waiting on my check (it takes 6 weeks to process).

To play it safe, you can call the phone number that is on Panasonic's rebate website and verify if your camera is applicable for a rebate by providing your serial number. If it's not, you can exchange the camera at NewEgg. (Another forum member apparently did this, and the second camera was good to go; check the authorized dealers thread for his story.)

Can't beat that price.

I am wanting to buy a 100B, and I checked with them. I asked about the warranty that came with the camera. I wanted to know if the camera came with a FULL USA Warranty, and he wasn't sure. Said that he knows that it comes with a 30 day store warranty. I also asked if the advertised promotion was a book or dvd, and the same, he wasn't sure. Did yours come with a FULL USA Warranty? And what else did it come with?
:dankk2:

Beware the words "USA Warranty". The worst of the scam shops will advertise their camera with a "USA Warranty", but it's actually in-store and not worth the toilet paper it's printed on. They figure they can call it a "USA Warranty" because their brooklyn scam shop is located in the USA, right?

You want the MANUFACTURER'S ONE-YEAR Warranty, from Panasonic USA.

I was able to register online for the rebate, so I did in fact receive both The DVX Book and the Magic Bullet software. I am still waiting on the $350 check since it takes longer to process than the book/CD (according to the woman I spoke to on the phone).

I am going to safely assume my camera is applicable for the manufacturer's warranty since the serial number was verified when I applied for the rebate.

Hi, I want to buy a DVX100B, and l found that Newegg has about the best price. I didn't see anything listed in their ad that mentions the warranty. So I called and asked a phone person about the warranty, if it is a FULL USA warranty or not, and he wasn't sure how to answer the question. He said all he knew was that it came with a 30 day store warranty. He didn't seem to know much about the book/dvd that suppose to come with it. What exactly did you get with your order, if I may ask. At $2850. after rebate + software + book/dvd, it's hard not to buy.

Also is it better to apply for the rebate online, or send in the one that you can download and print. How can you apply online if you have to send in the label/UPC from the box?

When I got my dvx from newegg, it came with two slips of paper regarding the warranty. One of them is the limited warranty statement. It is from Panasonic Canada Inc. Broadcast and Television Systems Division. The other is a limited warranty from Panasonic Broadcast and Television Systems Company, Unit Company of Panasonic Corporation of North America. This says they "will repair this product and all included accessories with new or refurbushed parts, free of charge in the USA or Puerto Rico. Hope that answers your question about the warranty.

Does it cost money to ship back to NewEgg if you don't receive a camera that is authorized?
