On the Arri site i just cam accross the HC-1 hand crank that allows the operator to manually control the advance of the film. I think something like this for red would be an interesting idea to allow users to create a handcranked look. The gear ratio would be programmable allowing a variable advance of a given number of frames per revolution. Obviously it would require the APIs (Application Programming Interface) of RedOne to be available to developers and also some sort of remote port (lemo/fischer ala Arri) to be available. It would also be useful if information about the input RPM, number of cranks etc was stored as meta data for use in post.
