Thanks David, I'm actually in ohio, close to columbus I'll try and find one near here.
thank you

I saw your post about the price for an HVX, if I may, I bought my HVX from spec-comm, those are the guys who are going to come out with the cineporter. (an alternative to the Firestore FS-100)

Anyways, I got my camera for 5,399 with an extra battery and free shipping. If you're having trouble finding anyone in the Ohio Area, these guys might be a good alternative.

They're authorized resllers, and I believe thats the lowest I have seen the camera for. I had an invoice from VSA/Dampier for $5200, but without an extra battery and while I was dealing with them face to face, I still didn't feel they treated me with respect or seriously (taking 2 days or more to get updated quotes back to me or not calling back when they said they would). The way i see it is that if that's how I am treated when they dont have my money, then I can't expect the relationship to improve once they have no incentive.

Becareful of internet deals though ,specially with digitalsaver or bestpricecameras or any of those guys, alot of them will have the HVX cheap, but its a non-american version that they are selling you and ends up costing you alot more in the long run to get their deals honored.

Good luck getting a camera!
The most important thing to remember is that you must feel comfortable with the people you are dealing with, trust your gut if you feel something is off chances are that it is!

How long ago did you purchase / get yours?

And how was your whole buying experience with them...from the time of inquiry to the receiving of the camera?

Thanks, I'll have to check them out, and yes I agree there are tons of crooks out there trying to rip people off, I think I'll feel best if I can actually talk to someone before ordering. Resellerratings.com is the best, if it weren't for this forum and that site I would probably have went the wrong way just to save a couple buck and ended up with junk. I'll probably going to buy tonight so thanks for all your help.

pmpworks, make sure you shop around and negotiate. I got my hvx from an authorized dealer for $4800 new in the box. Never buy from anyone without checking them out first.

Will do, I would buy closer to home here in Ohio, but the authorized dealer didn't have any in stock and said at least 2 weeks.....I really didn't want to wait that long.

Just got off the phone with spec-comm, they are out of stock til the end of the month. that sucks.

I live in Ohio during the summer months and I ordered from Spec-Comm. You can read in other forums how I say they were just great! Not to beat a dead horse:
Free shipping
Free Extra Battery

10% off certificate to thier cineporter upon release
and if you send them a certified check you get %2 off.
%2 off an HVX = $108

Plus my HVX came super fast! I was expecting another week and boom I recieved an email that it was sent and literally the next day it was at my doorstep.... and I live in Cleveland!

Thought I would drop my .02 in because I also am an Ohio, HVX, and spec comm customer!

So my total HVX price was under 5,300 and I had free shipping and a nice battery. Plus when the cineporter comes out it will save me even more. Its the cam that just keeps giving. Not to mention they are AUTHORIZED. Check panny website and they are listed... so no worries about credibility.

Sounds good but they are out of stock. If I don't find any other authorized dealers with the hvx in stock then I will probably go with Spec-Comm.

Called studio-exchange and I asked them if they had any in stock and the guy said yes, then I asked him how much and he hung up on me......? scratch them off my list.

Well I went with proviewdigital.com, their reviews are good, I called and ordered over the phone, very friendly, very professional shipping out tomorrow ups ground, already got an email conformation, no hassle, great deal too: $5,375.44 with shipping.
thanks for everyones help

Their rateings were very high, I couldn't find any dirt on them. It say's it comes with a full 1 year warranty from panasonic, they sell thru amazon.com so I figure they are not gray market, but I'll let you know.

That doesn't necessarily mean that they are not lying. These guys do it all the time. Amazon sells a lot of Gray market cameras, especially the DVX100B.

Best,

Come on people, how many times do we have to say it. Buy from an Authorized Dealer. SIMPLE.. SpecComm offers for not much more than this price, and they are an authorized dealer. This end this thread

Video Services of America (VSA) is authorized, and they are (or at least were) cheaper than the price you are seeing with Proview Digital.

I ordered my camera from Proviewdigital last week and it came two days later, fully packaged and brand new. Never had one problem with them or the camera so far.
