Andromeda Clip from my Feature

Virium...the footage looks good. I'd work on the camera work, but in regards to colors and resolution, the footage looks great.
Aw man, you can't just say something like that without saying what you didn't like.

I know the dolly bump is there, but that's because the floor sags (stupid fake floor that sags!) I'm working on rectifying that.

Virium,

Sorry for not being specific. I was talking about the inserts of the shot glasses as the opening shot. The whole shot feels a bit shaky, including the shots afterwards. Maybe it was your tripod head not being very fluid, but I think if you work on smooth camera transitions and movements, your work will look 100% excellent.

I'm looking to get Andromeda in the near future. I may have my student loans pay for it :)

I love watching Andromeda footage because it makes me get excited to know that it is uncompressed HD that shoots 4:4:4 color space and it's total raw data. That's the part that excites me the most. The possibilites of Andromeda are endless, atleast in my eyes.

hey man that looks nice. ditto on the new thread when the trailer is up. Keen to see it. Not going to discuss the andromeda/hvx thing coz i think you've been getting a lot of shite about it. That looks very good and I don't need an hd monitor to appreciate it. Also hope you can match the coolness of the track used in this clip...

virum...

i do have a fast drive SATA 300MBs per second, but i think it's somewhere in the whole processing structure...i think the CPU is maybe overtaxed and losing a frame. it's like one per second...before getting the new drive it was like 11 frames per second...sometimes higher. now though it's averagind 1 per second which is better just not perfect...what's your processor speed and is it dual?

Virum...
Something that I have noticed at the Andromeda's website in their samples... is that they are very very grainy.
Did you get that in the "raw" (i know you need to render it first) footage?
It looks like if you had grain in the orginal footage then you didi a great job removing it.

Let me field that question, as I was responsible for some of the footage on the reel-stream site....

clips: Angsterfullt and MBP HD promo...

The grain on that footage is because of two things , 1. the algorythm i used to output the original hi-res frames, and 2. 'cause i did some crazy over-sharpening to get a look i wanted.
I've been experimenting alot with the myriad of options that sculptor gives you for output... and it IS definitely possible to render out frames with almost no grain.

There is a detail to soft slider in the output where you can go from soft, grainless misty renders to a harder, soft grained look. From there you can artificially sharpen the grainless render or you can defocus the grainy render.
You can pretty much get any look from this system, believe me.

This question gets asks so much, there probably should be some sort of document on the site which gives an overview of the incredible amount of options you have.

Check this render for an example of a 'soft' render:

Disclaimer (my focus was actually a bit soft when I shot this.. so please excuse that.. this type of render does have the possibility for a bit more detail)

Andromeda 4-ever!!!

Andromeda....I'm jealous Virum grrr. how long did it take for them to send you back your DVX? It looks like this may be a fun project you got going there but I do agree that one of the actors kinda stuck out to me when they were acting drunk. You may want to reshoot that.

Matt, a lot of your footage definitely has gotten me interested in andromeda. I also have a quick question, have you tried using a DOF adapter with the andromedia setup yet?

Mark Dog, whats an opion? lol I think u said that like 123143 times. :2vrolijk_08:

oh yea virum...I think maybe if your actors' eyes were a bit more droopy like they can barely keep it open might help sell it a lil better. just my opinion, hope it helps!

Yeah - the redrock m2.. a friend lent me his for a few days. It worked great with a good quality lens .. edge to edge sharpness, no detail loss, an amazing product to use in tandem with the andro.

Slinks,

It usually takes 5-7 business days from the day we receive the camera. Depending on our workload it may take less.

Cheers,
Juan at Reel-Stream.com

Mathew: Is it possible/ or are u working on a method to record straight to an external hard drive. so that the Laptop is not neccessary. ?

Thanks.

I agree with Organsim, I wish i had and HD monitor to enjoy it! grrrr..

I have a 16 foot cord, I have to pick up higher quality ones if I want to get to 32 feet. I haven't had any problems in terms of not enough cord yet.

Of course, if I do later on, I could get two assistants....one with the imac to follow me running and the other to drag the power cord along. ;)

I still am--
Virum: have you thought about throwing the whole set up in a backpack? I was planning on making a mini mac backpack with a build in LCD screen, but I want to have a better live moniter than the LCD screen--so...

Do you have more movement footage?

Thought about it, but I don't have that much money.

Movement footage like dolly stuff? No....I'm really understaffed here and I only have abgout 10 minutes filmed as it is, most is tripod stuff.

Looks great Virum. I've been jonesing for Andromeda footage.

Same here. I would have thought there's be one or two finished projects by now. The mod has been out for a while . I'm serously considering a dvx/andro/movietube combo for a feature film. I'd love some new examples other than what's on the reel stream website.

I'd love to see more as well. I'm looking to mod my DVX but just haven't seen much footage from completed projects.
