Can't get P2 cards to show up on my G5 via HVX?

Hey all. Having simple problems here... can't seem to figure it out though.
Everything is easy on my powerbook... I just slap the P2 card into the PCMCIA on the side, but on my G5 I have to use the camera as a card reader.

Running FCP 5.0.4
MAC OS: 10.4.7
P2 Reader software installed
Quicktime 7 Pro

HVX hooked up to G5 via firewire
HVX in "1394 Device" mode

I've tried in both camera mode and P2 thumbnail/view mode. Powercycled. Restarted ect...

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Michael

Curious though. Why can't I use firewire for the mac? In Barry's book he writes that the USB 2.0 isn't gauranteed to work with MAC and the 1394 isn't gauranteed to work with PC. So it seems weird that this is the way to make a mac see the HVX?

Ya, i thought that was wierd too. But using the write protect mode almost garauntees it to work with the Mac via USB 2.0. I was having major problems getting it to connect with the 1394. It would show up in my disk utility, but refused to mount. USB mode with the write protect just seems the be the trick.

Not tested enough i guess. :P who knows. did it work for you?

Which port are you using?

The front FW port is troublesome from what I've read.

Also, remember that when you go to the MCR mode by pushing that button once, you have to push it a second time and hold it down until the 1394 Device Connect screen appears.
