How to burn uncompressed footages on to DVD

I am wondering since I don't have a HD-DVD player or Blu-Ray player (Or Burner)

I want to encode the best quality let's say I have a 2-3 minute 720p footage that I want to put on the just regular DVD 4.7Gig and being able to be played on regular dvd players, is there an encoder that I need to maybe utilize all 4.7Gigs without it being compressed?

or does it not even work that way?

Just wondering, thanks.

I editing on Premiere 2.0
getting FCP on a Mac Pro soon though! yay!

Thanks for reading.

You could put uncompressed DVCPro HD footage on a DVD for storage, but in terms of it playing uncompressed on a DVD player it won't work. DVD's in themselfs are compressed, usually Mpeg formate. HD DVD's and Blue Ray DVD's are compressed as well. Hope that helps.

If you want to play HD content on a standard consumer DVD player, it absolutely categorically can't be done - the DVD player has no idea what HD content is, like talking rockets to a medieval monk.

there are some specialty players that will play back WM9 HD content - but they are specialty players, so you'd have to be sure that was what was playing it back.

Closest possible now - you can burn HD content onto a DVD-R using DVD Studio Pro 4.x, and it will in theory play in an HD DVD player, and will play on Macs with the recent enough (v4.6?) DVD Player app. As for PCs, don't know the rules on that one.

You can encode to HD DVD using DVD SP 4 and play it out HDMI in High Def with the Toshiba.

You can backup DVCProHD on a data DVD.

But you can't play DVCProHD off a DVD natively -- to a television or computer.
