Let me try this again because i like the feedback on this page....i especailly like harsh criticism

So i made a new video that has a superhero theme and story to it, here is the link:

http://thebuzzla.com/bigkidd/big kid internet.mov

so here is my back story in a nutshell:

this video has a superhero element to it and the guy that played the superhero was amazing....he took the character in the video and went and audtioned for "who wants to be a superhero" with Stan Lee and got on the reality show.....

so it will be airing in late july on sci-fi....

watch the video that spawned it all

oh and let me know what you think

100dvx on this one and not too bad if I say so myself

Nice. Some good shots in there... not so sure about the cheesy FX, but it kinda fits the video.

Yeah, the superhero dude is a perfect fit.

Well I liked the song! I guess you must have been going for lamo special effects so you achieved lamo effects. If I was part of that band and this was any kind of reflection on me, I'd want a more professional look, I think. Also, we're you planning on having the blue tint on the final scene? That kind of looks like you just didn't bother to white balance. Honestly I think you could have done more with it, but hell what do I know?

Great vid! What did you use to get the special effects like the explosions, electricity, and robots? Also that glow that was trapping the girl.

How long did it take in post?

I completely disagree on having pro effects....every project needs to adhere to what is called for...this is a intended to be a cheesy concept...so the more b-grade effects work...if you have slick effects when it is not called for it would actually take away from the video.....that is my opinion

on the blue tint....you should watch movies recently...they blue tint, gold tint, red tint and every color in the book tint.....you should let them know to color balance their film stocks.....they don't because it looks cool to tweak out the colors.....that way all our videos don't look alike......i'll leave the clean looking high end effects videos for you to make

I think the video was great! I loved the story that was told. I guess the singer felt like he would not get the girl hence the hero winning out in the end despite the other guy's heroic actions. I think that I actually believed this video until the special eeffects of the robots...until then, and even after that, I felt they were believable. The robots worked, but it did pull me out of the story a bit. But I must say, this is one of my favorite videos I have seen made with the DVX.

I like this video overall. I was kind of on the fence about the robots at the end...I'm still not sure, personally. But a couple of suggestions - I would have like to have seen a brighter colored net - like a bright blue net. I think that may have added to the effect and continuity there. Also, I think the bubble text over the one person's head was great and would like to see that carried throughout the video. I think it would have made the overall concept a little more original and helped move the story along.

Nice work, though.

Great
nice concept and comp, the footage looks superb I wouldn't say the FX are cheesy but they're too crispy looking ie the explosions, so maybe that's why they don't blend in, I would suggest applying a blur on top of the FX so they don't look too "computer generated", and that overxposed shot when they open the warehouse maybe try to reduce the opacity or throw some MB on it, IMHO that's where the blue look comes from they left the thing open and there's a gang of light coming in. other than that it's great.

I thought the video was way cool! Contrary to some comments, the band should be very pleased with your work. I think it's great as is. However, if you did want to work on the effects a little, the suggestion about adding a slight blur might help the effects blend a little more.

How long have you been producing music videos? Well, how long in production total? You did a great job!

hey I saw the trailer for that new series "who wants to be a superhero" hosted by Stan Lee, and that superhero guy in your vid is in there too. series premiere july 27
I know u mentioned at the beginning of the thread.

Hi Ronster

Great work on the music vid! The concept, cast, acting, look and effects worked for me and felt that it was right on the money partly because i am a huge sucker for action/hero flicks, although based on the feedback youve been getting regarding the effects it might not hurt to give it a more comical look by adding such things as more speech bubbles, etc to blend the effects in more, although once again it worked for me. I seemed to have an issue with the blinding light behind 'Major Victory' in the scene where he lifts open the garage door, not too sure what you'd do with that, perhap add a ray effect of some sort, or maybe find another effect from particle illusions.. :> If theres one thing i liked about this clip, its the look, would love to know which adapters, settings, lighting, filters and cc programs were used to achieve this look as i am overwhelmed by the color and detail especially in the skin tones that you have managed to achieve with the dvx
Apart from that am very happy with this clip, great work

Man I bet Panasonic would want to use your videos as samples of what the DVX series camera will do. This clip looks like it was done on a Panavision.

I agree with J5, that was pretty awsome. I think even though there are images in a music video, the most imprtant thing is still teh music and I think you did a great job supporting the music, it was very entertaininga nd kept me looking all the way through the end, nice work!

This video is exellent, i agree with 'rszebras', the effects are not bad at all, the video is of very good quality and if i was a band member i would be seriously impressed with your work.

Just one small bit of advice, bearing in mind that the standard panasonic lens uses a wide angle distortion so objects appear bigger on camera, (im not sure of the exact focal length), it is important to rememeber that if you use the lens on the widest angle and move extremely close into the subject of the shot, the nature of the lens will begin to distort the face, and it was noticable that parts of the lead singer's face increased in size (namely the chin and nose) when the camera was too close. i would reccommend in future stepping slightly back from the subject and zooming in, taking off some of the wide angle distortion. This may make hand held shots very slightly more unstable, however, i think the optical image stabiliser, if used correctly, can correct for any problems.

This is a common problem seen in TV programs where some camera operators will use a wide angle lens and shoot close up at the widest angle, distorting the face of the subject, which can be unflattering.

This was the only problem i had at all with the video, the quality was exellent, lighting was to a good standard, sync, actors, camera angles, CC, etc were all really good.

Youve done an exellent job, i look forward to your next one!
