RED idea: make software similar to DV RACK by Serious Magic, but for the Mac

Serious Magic makes DV RACK and HDV POWERPAK. It is software for PCs. MY idea is for RED to make similar software to work with RED and run on MacBook PROs.

The following is copied from videoguys.com

"DV Rack is the first product that can prevent video disasters, help you shoot faster and let you get visibly better quality from your existing camera. It's powerful software that runs on a PC or laptop connected to your DV camera. DV Rack puts ten essential monitoring, production and evaluation tools at your fingertips letting you instantly preview, record, review, and evaluate your shots.

DV Rack comes complete with ten powerful video components in a "virtual rack" that precisely emulates traditional video gear at a fraction of the cost, weight and complexity. The components are all native DV and include a professional field monitor, digital video recorder, vectorscope, waveform monitor, audio spectrum analyzer, video analyzer, digital still frame grabber, shot timer, camera setup module and an automated quality monitoring tool, which evaluates every frame of video and audio in real-time as DV producer shoots, alerting them to potential problems."

"DV Rack is powerful software that runs on a PC or laptop connected to your DV camera with a standard Firewire cable."

SOMEBODY should do that, but I wonder if RED doesn't have enough on their plate already - some other third party might be a better way to get that done...

it's a good idea, but I don't see how it's related to RED.
