Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

As Barry said your warranty will be in some other part of the world, you will not qualify for the rebate. You will not get the Barry Green DVX Book, the Magic Bullet or the newly added Instand HD software. All of these add up to a total value that would take the price of the product below that of New Egg and you would have a US product.

Warranty is one year parts and labor.

Best,

Jan

And, for clarification, it's *possible* that what you get from NewEgg would be an authorized unit. But it's also possible that it won't be. That's the risk you take. If it's not authorized, there's no rebate and no book and no dvd and no magic bullet and no instantHD and no US warranty.

Hey guys. Great site- I have been a casual reader for some time now. This is my first time posting I think. I am going to purchase a 100b very soon so I have been doing alot of homework based on what you guys are saying. Its unbelievable how sleezy businesses somehow survive here... easy to drop our confidence in the morality of man another notch eh. Anyways- I may be beating a dead cat with this question, but here we go... Profeelvideo.com has an excellent rating on 'resellerratings.com' and I have heard good things about it from the posts here. So I called today and asked about a dvx100b. I talked to a woman named esther. The conversation felt very rushed as if I had to hurry to talk without thinking... which always makes me nervous. It seems like poor business to me when I am potentially paying so much. Anywho, they are offering a $400 rebate, whereas everywhere else it is $350. I asked her when it expired... she replied september 06'. I asked if the package included magic bullet and the dvx book a couple times... both times she replied 'no, they aren't doing that promotion anymore.' I slowly replied asking why all the authorized dealers still have it... only to hear 'I dont know, you should call them and make sure its still going.' It is right? I asked her clearly if the one year warranty is through USA panasonic... she said it is. She also said they have no trouble validating their rebate ($400 apparently) through panasonic. I asked if they buy directly from panasonic (knowing they probably do not) and she said they do not but they buy from a group that buys directly from them in the USA. Sound like BS or a legit story? The price is definitely appealing... (especially to me as being a recent college grad and having a feathery wallet seem to go hand in hand).

Ok, apologies for the long read... just wanted to fill you guys in well. Thanks alot for your support- hope to hear back soon-

Be well,

Tejay

Ok... Im thinkin I might have moved a little too quick on this. B&H had a used dvx100b for sale... they said on the phone that it had never even had a tape run through it. They listed it for 2,895. It has the dvx book and magic bullet with it as well. I figured it was B&H so I trusted that it would be OK, especially having just bought a case from them a couple days ago that arrived very quickly. Not to mention they are authorized dealers. But this was used so it had no warrenty. I bought a 2 yr warrenty from them for another $100, thinking im still making our pretty well with price. I ended up buying a tape rewinder and a couple other accessories from them as well. I did have to pay sales tax though which was an additional $240. Total came to $3,250. Im sort of nervous I made some mistake from moving too quickly here. Also, at willoughby's I could theoretically get one for just under 3k after the rebate. You guys think I did OK here? Thanks-

Tejay

I want to echo the many thanks for all the great information being bounced around on this site. Truly appreciated.

I decided to go with NewEgg.com this afternoon, because in my mind, $3,212.61 [camera + shipping] is just too good to pass up. $2,862.61 will feel even better if/when the rebate goes through... I feel like it should, considering the reputation of NewEgg, but I will keep you folks posted on my progress.

I just sprung for the 100b. Actually I got a credit card with 12 months of 0% interest and I'm going to try and pay it off in that time. I think I can do it! I went with newegg also. I felt secure that in the event the camera shipped to me was not a USA model, newegg would refund my money or replace it. It came no problem and I verified the serial # with Panasonic as being an authorized USA model. I realize there not an authorized Panasonic dealer, but they have better ratings than some stores that are. It's not a guarantee, but I think they're a good store and won't screw you.

I wasn't aware that newegg was selling these. It's very unusual for a place with such high customer satisfaction to be selling items for which they are not authorized dealers. I hope it works out for you.

If anyone would like a list of unathorized dealers compiled by Panasonic and sent to dealers, I have it excel format to email. It's a bit long to post word for word.

I'd just like to remind everyone that DVX100B's are still our best selling camera and we will continue to support it and the DVX User community.

I purchased my camera from profeel.com. I bought the DVX100a, and this was a while ago, so I got the MB 1.0 that came with it. Back then the DVX book wasn't part of the deal. I also have US warranty.

I don't think they deal directly with Panasonic however. I've purchased another camera from them before (a sony handicam) and they both seem to be the real deal. No problems with them so far so I'd recommend them.

But other shops I usually purchase other stuff from are from B&H and Adorama, so check them out. And EVS seems to be pretty popular here at DVXuser, so you can't go wrong with that either.

Good luck!

I believe the person at Panasonic who informed you that this was no longer going was mistaken. I have customers still able to get this rebate as they have it advertised (including the software and book/dvd), and our rep reitterated that the *full* rebate is still good through Sept '06. I hope this helps; just click where is says "Over $900 in Cash and Products":
http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=94944&catGroupId=14571&modelNo=AG-DVX100B&surfModel=AG-DVX100B

Yaaaa so I got the 'used' camera (new but opened box or grey market--- either or) from B&H which they said included the software... But Alas! noooo software. The salesman I spoke to on the phone was so assuring that it was in there. As always though everything else about their service was top notch. At the time I thought the software was included in the new boxes. Is it sometimes or must you always send a rebate to panasonic? Anyways- its already on its way back down to be returned. Now... after a fool's bout of rushing in on what seemed like a deal im hoping for a more well placed strike. Im wondering if anyone knows how much GreatNorthernVideo.com is letting a dvx100b go for... orrrrr if they are at all anymore. I thought I remembered someone on this forum saying they bought one for a really good price about a year ago. To say that their site is vastly informative for pricing and availability is to tell an elephant he lacks the power to crack open a peanut. Im thinking of either going with them if the price is right or gambling with Newegg.com who guaranteed me I would get the $350 refund from panasonic or they would give it to me themselves. Let me know what you guys think. As always thanks for the great support on the forum. Be well-

newegg is not a pani broadcast dealer. I checked with my inside rep there. If you get $ back it will have to come from newegg.

I think it was long since established that newegg is not an authorized dealer. Nowhere on the rebate form does it say "ONLY AUTHORIZED DEALERS". It says "Must be authorized US Product". The DVX I bought from newegg is definitely that. Upon dictating my serial #, I was assured by the panasonic rebate center that this was so and that I would get the rebate provided I send in the form with the required upc and invoice. Unless they were mistaken or lying, and I can't think of a reason for lying in that situation, the above quoted post seems like misinformation to me. My apologies if that is incorrect.

I see your point. I guess this begs the question: "From where are they obtaining the "US Product" if it's not from Panansonic USA, and how, if at all, does that effect the warranty?"

Maybe that's a discussion for another thread, but that's certainly an interesting loophole for consumers/newegg.

Unauthorized dealers get their product from some dealer who's willing to sell them product. It could be a US dealer who's willing to sell their product into gray-market, or it could be a non-US dealer. So there's a chance that you'll get a US-authorized product, if Newegg (or other unauthorized dealers) were able to find a US-authorized dealer who will sell to them. But therein lies the risk -- what if that source dries up? Or, what if they start getting a better deal on non-US product -- will they swap to that? Who knows? The only thing we do know for sure is that they can't buy direct from Panasonic. So they can't guarantee that they'll get US product. They may, or may not.

What doesn't necessarily make any sense is -- how can a gray-marketer sell US product cheaper than the authorized dealer can? If the gray-marketer is buying US product, they're buying it from a US dealer. Which means they're paying more for it than the authorized dealer does. How/why can they sell US authorized product for less than the US authorized dealer, when their cost of goods is inherently higher (because, presumably, the US authorized dealer who's selling them the product isn't doing so at a loss, right?)

So if you're going to advertise these below-market prices, it seems logical that the only way they can sustain that business model is by importing from outside the US (to take advantage of favorable currency exchange rates, etc).

I see a lot of stores in your authorized dealers list categorized with the "DVXuser discount applies. what is the DVXuser discount ?

I want to make sure all the facts are on the table with unauthorized dealers such as newegg.

When a service center works on your Panasonic camera for something under warranty, Panasonic requires a bill of sale from the dealer to the consumer, as well as an invoice copy as proof of purchase by dealer from Panasonic. Without that, their is no warranty service. Therefore, you would likely need to go back to newegg for service, and hopefully they would live up to their repuation of good customer service with this caveat.

I realize not all cameras from newegg will encounter these circumstances, but not everyone wants to roll those dice. I hope this info is helpful for all of you.

boggled--please help

boggled--please help

hi everyone,

ok so i know i want to buy this camera and get the warranty and $350 rebate.

i've read half of these messages and cannot find whether or not:

beachcamera

is an authorized dealer.

they seem to offer the best price and even advertise the rebate right next to the dvx100b on their order page in the form of a .pdf file. there is no mention of a book or software, though, so i guess it doesn't come in the box but comes in the mail with the rebate check.

after rebate they are $2799.

good place to buy? will i still get my warranty? it also says US, factory sealed model on their site.

thanks,

jessi

Beach is not an authorized dealer. If they guarantee that they're selling you a US unit at that price, and that they will accept a return with no questions asked and no restocking fee, then maybe you could consider risking it. But read their rep on resellerratings.com before committing.
