Hvx Rental- Mac User

Hey there,

I've been combing this forum as I have an HVX project next week and I'm starting to really get nervous. It seems that most users are faced with a lot of bugs and glitches.

Is there a thread I missed that has workflow tips for some one who is renting?

I've booked two P2 4Gig cards and a P2 Store as well as the Cam and I use a 15" powerbook, 10.3.9, 1.25GHz with 768MB RAM

I'm starting to think that the HVX for Mac users is not a good combo. As a rental will I be forced to buy some software to offload the cards?

Gathering from this forum, no matter what I do i should expect some confusing and unexpected problems off loading the cards that both panny and apple are useless in repairing anytime soon.
What's going on?

You don't need to buy software to offload stuff to a mac. I have a Mac and things have worked out fine without added software. I probably will purchased something to make it easier, but it works fine.

The only notes I have is that while the P2 Store works on both Mac or PC it doesn't work on both at the same time. You need to switch modes between Mac and PC (and this information is not listed anywhere I could find easily). Here's the procedure:

The correct sequence is to first press and hold the HDD Capacity ( C )
and Cancel buttons (A), THEN add the Battery Check Button (B), now
hold all three buttons for 5 seconds, the mode will change reliably
from PC to Mac or back to PC. When you do this process you'll see the LED
light change between Orange and Green. Organge if for Mac. Green for PC. it
is necessary to connect a USB 2.0 cable to the computer or the USB
mode LED will not light and you will not know which mode you have
selected.

If you are putting a P2 card directly into a Powerbook you need to download a driver from Panasonic, but that's easy enough.

Don't be scared about working with the Mac and the HVX. It works great.
