Red Hot Chili Peppers Video

30P still has many film like qualities... its the P that is imPortant... 30P is great for music and sports... in fact I have worked on more than one music video shot on FILM that we shot at 29.97...

ash =o)

How can you tell with that crap ass compression? It says AOL Music in the corner so we can assume its some type of concert footage perhaps for one of their web shows?

Actually on that one they use the HVX for the Making of I believe, but I do believe that there is another one coming and it was done with the HVX.

Hi,

Are you referring to Dani California? I just watched the making of that video and I'm pretty sure that they weren't using HVX200's. Either that or I got shafted on my order because my HVX is about 1/10th the size of theirs!

Thats the vid where they take of all the 'ages' of music? It was shot on film.

It's pretty clear above in this thread, but to reiterate: their new video "TELL ME BABY" is shot in the HVX by Dayton & Faris. Go to iTunes, if you wanna download it and see it.

Yea I typed in "Tell me baby" and found nothing in Itunes
I searched all red hot chili peppers videos and found no "Tell me baby"

yes... the progressive part of the equation that is what's so cool. I personally don't shoot much 24p as I don't like the strobing in the LCD and on pans and tilts... prefer the 30p stuff...

Can't wait to check it all out...

So while it's a great video and is cut really well and give the Peppers a ton of street cred....it really doesn't do much in the way of cinematography. I couldn't tell from Google Video....but are you sure this is shot on the HVX? Could have easily been shot on the DVX . In fact, that would have lended itself well to the the look since it's trying to emulate an audition tape.

My conclusion: Not really a milestone for HVX cinematography...but a good 3 minutes of Music Video fun.
