Hey guys! I am doing post for my short film, and I really need some valuable opinion on color correction. Some of the footage I have looks awful (especially the plain white walls) as well as the jagged edges (probably cant do much about that) and my goal is to color correct the hell out of it so it becomes more palatable.

I'm attaching a few raw grabs from a few shots and also my own color correction tests. I know there are good color correcting people here! Please take a minute and upload your own versions and show me how it is done!! THANK YOU!!!

THANKS IN ADVANCED

Hey...Nothing seems to be wrong with the grabs you posted...your color correction looks great! I especially like the way you bring out the skin tones in the last screenshot. Most of these seem a bit yellowish - not sure if that's the intention, but it looks good...But I'm new to this so some more senior members might give more constructive comments. Dying to see it in motion tho..Did you use magic bullet for any of them?

Use three way color corrector.

Use three way color corrector.

Adjust the black, white and then the mid slider under the visual button. It really makes colors pop!

Just be careful that you don't boost the levels too high, especially in shots where there is not alot of lighting. A little will go a long way.

I would think a good rule of thumb is to put it in photoshop and use the auto contrast function - not auto level function and see what photoshop wants. It may not be what you need but after a while it gives you a good baseline to what is 'correct' in regards to contrast control. photoshop standard is a pretty good baseline. A gradutaed filter at the top while shooting the rooftop would have been good to use to nd the sky.

Yep the Magic bullet grad sky was what I among other things used on my corrected frame.

thanks for all the suggestions, I think I've approached a look that I'm happy with. I added a gradient to it and used some magic bullet setting that I tweaked heavily, did a lot of color curve balancing, increased saturation...maybe a bit too yellow still? what do you guys think

Very nice in a stylized way which I'm guessing you're going for since your subject is about NINJAS! Just one thing to remember in case you haven't is that you should always color correct to a TV screen and not your computer monitor since monitors don't give you an accurate gauge of color and contrast.

is there in the maze of the forum a CC tutorial? it is a subject very interesting

thanks again guys, ill be posting the final movie here in a few days, still not quite content with the colors, but we'll see
