RECON 2022 Teaser

Looks fantastic.

Looks fantastic.

The stuff looks great. I watched it twice and I can't tell which footage is HVX and which is variacam. Couple of questions: 1) Which footage is HVX and which is Variacam?, and 2) What was your budget for the film?

Thanks,
Seamus+

Cool. It's pretty ballsy to make a sci-fi/action pic on a small budget. For me, it's hard enough just rounding up crew, cast, food, etc, for a simple drama with no sets, props, fx, or anything.

Answers to questions:

1: All the exteriors were shot on the VariCam. Most of the interiors were on the HVX, especially everything inside the tanks.

2: The budget was around $100,000 CAD. This is a sequel to our first film, RECON 2020 which was shot for about $50,000 CAD. Fore mroe info, visit the Official Site at www.recon2020-movie.com. There is also a temporary site for RECON 2022 which will upgrade to Official soon at www.recon2022-movie.com.

3: The snow mountain stuff was shot about an hour away from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

wouldnt something like year 2422 be a little more realistic?

The original title was Power Corps. Our US disributor changed it to RECON 2020. Makes little sense but we explained it in the first film somehow. We are kind of stuck with it. It is a work of fiction so it doesn't matter much. It doesn't ahve to be set in this universe... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I love that the only bit of dialogue was up yours asshole... Man that is ballsy fo sure.

Congrats on something looking pretty darn good. Kind of a star gate meets powerrangers on steroids with guns?

Feel free to use that for marketing purposes. Glad you are able to get it done.

looks like a lot of fun and a serious calling card for a film with even a pitiful 1.5 million. I have to still laugh when people act like that's nothing.

Congrats on getting to make a 2nd film. How have your dealing been with distributors? What was your development strategy if you don't mind me being such a big nosey nose.. I think anyone able to make films with a distribution deal is leaving one great life... that is all the time you aren' making the film. Production is absolute hell.

Not sure where you are getting that 1.5 million figure. We shot this particular film for $100,000 CAD or roughly $70,000 USD.

This is actually my company's third film. Our other film, Pain Killer (www.painkiller-movie.com) was shot with the DVX-100 and is currently on the last legs of its post-production.

Our development strategy was:

We shot a 30 minutes fulllength story with about $5000 CAD. We shopped it around, hoping to get a TV series deal. That did not pan out. But we got a distributor out of it who gave us $45,000 to use what we had shot and compelte it into a full film, which became the first RECON. Things kind of evolved from there.

My advice.. Don't tell anyone else it was 14 days, $100K CAD.

The old axium of "Good, Fast and Cheap- You can only have two out of the three." Immediately comes to mind.

I.

Well, on our first film, We shot even shorter with half the money and we still won Best Sci-Fi/action Film at the Sci-Fi London Film Festival against Hollywood films that had hundreds of times our budget. Rules ar emade to be broken. Same for axioms. ;-)

movieseals...

I wasn't saying that you did it for 1.5.... but that this film is a good calling card to get that 1.5 to make your next movie... I'm just always amazed when 1.5 or 5 or 8 million is considered low-budget. 100k is low-budget. My last film at 65k is low-budget....

Congrats...
