A DAY WITHOUT a Mexican, feature shot with DVX100a

It was a GREAT idea, but alas, I never watched the whole thing. Turned off after a few minutes. Poor execution is what I remember now.

that's a DVX film?

Wow, I enjoyed the film when I watched it a while back and never knew it was a DVX film... Cool..

I rember seeing this at holloywood video and almost renting it. haha I got the Wooden Camera insted. Good movie. Ill have to check out dwm now

I'm with Vidled. Got all the way through, but was let down by the execution. Looked really amateurish in spots. Great concept.

Agreed

Agreed

Yeah I saw it a while back didn't know it was a dvx movie. the short is funny and a funny idea, but not enough to carry a full feature unless it's done a lot better than that.

I made the mistake of renting this movie a few months ago--thinking it was created from my POV so to say. As someone who lives very near and dear to the personal struggles of Hispanic immigrants--documented and undocumented--I'm always downing the common themes that I thought would have led to the creation of this movie. I was sorely disappointed though. Like others said, poor poor execution, poor writing, incomplete expression of the concept, absolutely NO delving into the immigrants' side of the issue. I expected this to be a comedy--but looked at from both sides. It did a poor job of looking at either side AND wasn't at all funny.

Anyway ...

this was shot on a DVX100 not 100A and from seeing the behind the scenes on the DVD they used a 1/24th shutter.

I know what you mean. That A would have saved the movie.

That's exactly what I was expecting too. And like I said: this could of been a REAL
clever [comedy] movie that showed some REAL social issues...I VERY QUICKLY figured out whilst watching the first few minutes, that it missed that mark completely. A real shame, 'cause someone at least had an awesome idea.

I saw the trailers back then, didn't even bother to go see it, my wife however went to see it and she said it was a waste of time and that it looked like home video. but I saw the director holding an XL series camera once, didn't know it was shot with da DVX

Why would the "A" have saved the movie?

I really think that the original 100 puts out a better picture than either the a or b. But maybe thats just me

A trailer can be magical. It can make a 90 piece of crap look like a million bucks. A learned that after watching Constantine.
