Had relatives on both sides of Civil War. My Mom's side of family has been in America for-friggin-ever (The Ross's)

Wow... I'm really impressed by some of this history. Only about 10 years ago did I try to find anything out about my family.

History: Came from Russian to Germany in early 20th century. Half left Germany in the 20s and came to the US, settled in the Bronx (where we stayed until I was 13, then grandparents went to FL with all the other old Jews)... The ones who didn't get out of Germany, well, WW2 sort of made that line end.

I did find out that my Great Grandfather spoke 14 languages, was a seemstress in the Wild Bill Travelling Circus, and during the McCarthy era he left the US and went to Russia, where he was never heard from again.

I really wish I knew more about my family history.

History= Descended from King Louis XVI of France, Descended from Robert The Bruce of Scotland, Related to Jean Lafette the Pirate who, though the US had a price on his head, relayed to Colonel Jackson the plans the British told him as they tried to recruit him to help take New Orleans. , Great-Great-Great-Great grandfather was in Valley Forge and was a Captain (Jonathan Kemp) in the Revolution, also fought at Bunker Hill. Other relatives fought in Revolution and Civil wars. My dad tells me one relative was a gun/goods runner on the mississippi during the civil war. Some relative settled in North Texas and started the town of Denison Tx. Distantly related to Jack Kemp. (There's more of course but this is what I remember best)

Born in England, Citizen of both Great Britain and Finland.

Spend a lot of time in the US too, but no more than a visitor. Though after High School in Alaska, part of me will aways be there too.
