I have a few of Kino's, descent LAVs, Sennheiser and Schoeps shotguns. Insurance is automatic thru the university. Have extra batteries and it is my understanding that the DVX batteries are compatible with HVX.

Studio monitoring is covered and I already have a complete ProTools rig with control surface for audio. Just looking at the camea/video stuff.

Where are you from, Europe or USA? Maybe a 15" refurbiched Powerbook is a good bet- you should get one on EBAY or Mac reselling channel- direct PCMIA for P2 card, Firewire 800 and 400, good portability- good tool for field work.

Also, you could get a stickypod. It is something very specific, I know, but I think it guarantees bigger production value.

A UV filter for the main lens is essential, too.

A Matebox and a Redrock M2 should also be a plus for short film production.

i dont' know the costs of the fibre channel storage and i'm not familiar with storage options for macs but based on my knowledge of fibre prices in general i say why spend all that money on storage. yes you might want a secure raid setup but fibre seems like overkill for this situation if you are just working with footage from the HVX. i would find a more reasonable raid setup and spend the extra cash on thngs like a marshall monitor and a bunch of add on lenses from century. their telephoto and wide angles adapters were really fun to play with at NAB.

Lose the Quadro FX4500 and get 2 GeForce7800 cards.. the 7800 uses a lot of the same technology as the QuadroFX4500.. Are you mainly performing video editing on this machine? Unless you're doing 3D Maya stuff, I reccommend the following... With 2 7800 cards make sure you SLI link the GPUs together for optimal performance and you will have one smoking rendering machine! I currently have a G5 Dual Core 2.0 with 6.5 GB Ram with GeForce 7800 and GeForce 6600... I love Apple!

Dont make fun about that... Im looking into it, but so far it 200k$. + operational hours... + training.

Only problem it hard to control a camera and helicopter at the sametime. So better just hire someone ;)

Or pay someone to control the camera while you fly your helicopter.
