pretty good, could have used some chunks, brain matter and what not, on the backsplash instead of jus the blood. But it looked good, good enough to get flagged by youtube!

hi

hi

yeah it does look abit too runny.

Errrmm well i used a blank gun with a blank bullet, to like actually make the actor jump. i find that works better then just letting them pretend and adding the muzzle flash etc.

Its all straight outa the camera , the only thing ive done is added the actual forehead hit with photoshop and animated it quickly in fcp.

The blood from behind the head is a hose rigged up to high pressure air, and the trigger was with the gun so exactly as i shot the gun the blood went with it.

This was just a test to see if i could do it well enough to use in a film im going to make. but i think im gonna make the hose wider and make the blood thicker and add some dog food or something sick. haha its so easy to go over the top tho with the blood. you just wanna keep pouring it in haha.

how is the trigger with the gun explain please ? but i liked blood need to be a littlt thicker since ie it with brain matter thought but looked cool

peace n luv

great stuff

great stuff

thats hardcore. Really professional looking.

we just did somthing similar with a bullet wound to the stomach.

attached a hose to a 2 liter coke bottle filled with blood, ran the hose up to the belly wound under the shirt with a pre cut bullet hole, and stomped on the coke bottle.

This is the extremely poor mans version of the air cannon. But it really worked, and looked pretty damn messy...

I don't have a clip online yet, becuase its a pretty significant plot point in the film, and I don't want to give it away yet.

But you can check out some other clips and blogs from the film @

Wow, that looked great! I wasn't expecting it to look as good as it did, but I was impressed. Looked professional to me, aside from (as others have commented) the blood being a little too runny. But otherwise it looked fantastic.

wow dude! i am really impressed. I wish I knew how to do stuff with photoshop and edit......maybe u can give me an online class....once again...good job!

Yeah, honestly, if you have the time to write some sort of step by step instruction detailing how you did it (computer-wise, what you had to do to get the bullet wound in photoshop and then animate it with FCP), I'd be forever grateful. If not, no worries, but it be awesome if you had the spare time to tell us about it in more detail.

hey guys thanks for the comments. Im glad it looks good, ill post the short i make with this effect probably i nthe next few weeks. :)

ermm yeah blanks can be dangerous, but there cool when its justa blank firing gun. the barrel is blocked. ha i think if i put a real bullet in it it explodes , would be funny to try in a controlled situation, any way back to the post.

Errmm im not sure which bit you guys wanna know about but ill give it a try.

The only bit that has been done on computer is the quick little animation of the bullet hit on the forehead that we see.
I had to animate it since he throws his head back and forth.

What i did was ...

searched on google for gun shot wound. (horrible)

saved a good picture.

Opened photoshop and cut out the right bit, like the hole or some dark spot with blood. the hole tends to be better as its darker.

no need to save as jpg or whatever as i can just save as photoshop file, fdp opens these as they are which allows me to open the seperate layers. (if you didnt know, im sure you did)

i find a marker on his head, either one i made before the shoot, with a white sticky pieve of paper on his forehead or a black dot with a pen, or a feature of his face i can follow.

then i take the wound picture and have the first frame where the bullet would hit his head and add a keyframe hit next frame, and just drag the wound to where the marker has moved, then add keyframe etc etc but as his head tilts back i would usually change the brightness of the wound and how it looks as his head tilts. but for this i didnt as it was done in like 10 mins, but it doesnt take that much more time.

and for this one i just animated the wound to dissapear quickly, but u can continue the animation for as long as u need just as long as u can still see the marker u used.

Its well simple, and if u take ure time u can make it look so good, and it still looks alrite if u rush.

so there u go

Not sure if thats what u wanted to know, or not, but i tried lol :)

oh and the trigger for the compressed air was rigged onto the handle of the gun so as i pulled the trigger i squeezed the trigger for the compressed air and it bangs at the same time , but like if u want the gun in complete shot, u can just get someone else to pull the trigger and just shout now and time it right.

:)

Thanks again

Mark
