"BROKEN" Feature Film VFX Test Clip w/ Breakdown

Spartacus said:
...since this was only a test and your going HD for the final piece, maybe your VFX guys could write a little "how to" about pulling a testkey like this for us DV leftbehinders hehehehe
I have to repeat: I WOULD BE VERY SATISFIED WITH A DV KEYING RESULT AS SEEN IN YOUR TEST!

Seriously, though. That's a really good key. I really want to see what/why/how on this one.

It is pretty straight forward. We pulled the key in SHAKE, rotoed out some areas in her arms and hair, place the plate, lite it, did a 3D model of her movements and used the model to create the glow effect on her hands and layered it all in. :kali:

Yeaaaah. Straight forward.

Errr... I guess that's why I hire people to do this instead.

I got totally lost on the 3d model part.

Hey Alex,

If you have the time, I'd love for you to open a new thread in Screenwriting Section of this site, to discuss the actual process of writing this script for this feature.

Thanks man! We are just trying to make it the same as you. :kali:

Hey Alex you're Broken DVD is the best! A beginning filmmaker could watch and learn the behind the scenes stuff and do well. I only buy DVD's for the extras. And you delivered big time. Keep helping us, my brotha.

While we are waiting for BROKEN to go into full gear I need to get behind the camera again. More details to come soon.

Yeah but how shamless can you get? and you guys just managed to get 3 mill? No big studio support?

While I agree with you that Broken was a bad movie and has little substance to it, what puts it over the top is the level of production value achieved on such a low budget using pro-sumer level products. Raising 3 million for an indi film without name talent attached for a first time feature director is no easy task.

The broken crew played the game and played it well. Doing all their pushing and marketing is what got them to this point so I say kudos to them. You don't have to like it. But you know what? You also don't have to read the thread. Obviously you feel you could do better so put your money where your mouth is and make a movie instead of complaining about someone who has.

You've been pimping this trash for well over a year now, and apart from the actual look of it (which is mighty nice) and the vfx (desperate vfx guys come a dime a dozen) this story has zip going for it. Bad acting, lousy directing and crappy plot along with an ego drenched dvd makes me wonder what an invester could possibly see in handing hacks like you their hard earned money? (possibly a tax write off?)

You had Roger ebert give you a good review (The review read like you guys had harrassed him into seeing your work, and he just wanted a monkey off his back) and you guys just managed to get 3 mill? No big studio support? Maybe hollywood isnt as stupid as We thought.

You've flogged this horse to death and then had a good ol' time with the carcass. Go self promote somewhere else.

Max,

Why are you so angry? Did we hurt you in some way? Dude, seriously do you have anything better to do than rag on a few indie filmmakers trying to make something happen? It was a $8000 indie short film, that's all. We have had some success and if that bothers you we are truly sorry for that.

Again, we wish you no harm and wish you nothing but the best in the future in all you projects (if you are a filmmaker). Read a book, make love to a beautiful woman, chill out but you should stop ragging on a few guys trying to better themselves and follow there dreams. My advise is you focus on your dreams and stop trying to crush others. Much love man! :)

Alex,

Max Hardcore is trolling for trouble in several threads. Just try and ignore him.

Personally, I love hearing updates about your various film projects.

Check out my site, douche. Lotsa love and beautiful women. and I've already made my dreams come true.

Don't paint yourself as some happy go lucky film maker who just wants to reach his dreams.

Your a tireless self promoting hack. One with a huge ego to boot.
As many, many people have pointed out to you on the many, many internet forums you have posted your self promoting dribble, just stop and go away.

I'm willing to bet that 3 million dollar investment vanishes in a few months, when one of your big investers (read: Dentist with no idea about the biz) actually watches broken and see's ther money heading down the drain.

You are truly an angry, angry, little man. :crybaby: No seriously, I wish you much love and success in all your future projects. And if you have made your dreams come true, good for you just try to not crush others trying to make there dreams come true.

Again much love and success man, truly!:love4:
