MORE SGPRO GRABS, Footage in about an hour.

Uncompressed AVI Res chart clip.

Look at it in your NLE. WMP for some reason turns it into mush, i think its trying to deinterlace it or something and is causing it to go all weird.

Scary thing is, it actually shows 550 lines..... like a stock DVX.

but it does have softer edges, however!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, because the cam was only about a 1.5 feet away from the 8.5" X 11" res chart. i suspect, that on a real 44" chart, the edge softness will be alleviated, just by the physical nature of the lens.

Marlene? any back up?

I have uploaded a TIFF version here since your right about WMP turning it to mush:

Im certainly not happy with the results, so am looking into it. Timur, could you please post an image of the GG stationary, with the SLR lens off, with the best focus you are able to get on the GG?

Yes, noobie here. I'm a bit confused about the lenses and all. Please tell me, what is the point of these lenses? I'm not seeing anything (with my untrained eye of course) in any of this footage that would signal to me that it was shot with anything other than the lens that was originally on the camera. If no one wants to get into a discussion of it here, feel free to direct me to the appropriate thread/sticky here on dvxuser.

Thanks ...

Vaughn, primarily it's to get the shallow 35mm depth of field that you just can't get with a 1/3" chip camera.

I've also noticed that there is an image change. Certain adapters and lenses give a different look than clean shot footage out of the normal lens.

yea each adpter behaves a different way. TheSGrpo gives a bit of a dreamy, warm rich look. The LEtus35 is soft, and flat. The Go35 gives teh footage a golden, organic look, and it compresses the highights alot ( thats good).

its more a question of which look you prefer. Each adapter has its drawbacks and limitations. I prefer the SGpro.

Wayne, I went to your site, it says you aren't taking orders currently. Is that correct? Tim.

Feel free to pm me as not to jack this thread.

The resolution in the center is nearly loss less. but Wayne and i figured out whats wrong with my setup.

but dont forget my SGpro is not a true SGpro, itsa SG35/pro Hybrid. the real SGpro will put out a picture thats pin sharp alll the way across.

but seriously the slightrez drop on the corners is nothin compared to how awesome this thing really is.... i drool every day.

edit:

with some experimenting i did tonight, i figured out that through a delicate balance of camera placement on the rails, and very minute focus adjustment, i can get it sharp[ all the way across the picture plane. :) itrs jus that i have to compramise a little sharpness in the middle to buy back some at the edges. and this problem disappears as soo nas the DVX apeture is closed more than F2.8

so the sharpness problem really only exists in very low light. again, this is my unit only.

Thanks for posting Timur, the more experiementing you do, the more interesting it is for me ;)

Slimothy, we are in the process of updating the site. Please PM me.

EDIT:
Just wanted to point out, that the rods support in the above picture is from the original SG35, not the pro.
