Question for RED Team/Jim Jannard about guidelines...?

Hi,

my question to Jim or anyone from the RED Team is this: I know the viewfinder or LCD screen will have overscan. But will it also have guidelines for 2:35.1?
That would be very cool and easy to use instead of taping off monitors and stuff.

They are working on having overlays for various aspect ratios. This is very easy to do, and I know they have recieved numerous requests for this.

totally cool, if i understand it correctly.

I posted elsewhere that when I shot for the first time an interview with the xl-1, i had a nice frame, etc.

When I went to edit...yep...there it was all this extra space from hell. (after you work so hard to frame things right.)

Well they assume its for t.v., so the viewfinder shows only the t.v. ratio.
This was for web (and dvd), so you see all the extra area.

God help me that you will get wysiwyg in a view finder.
Show me everything its capturing, and give overlay options to show me what may appear in different formats (i.e. if its t.v. etc)

peace

dalen
