Just in.. Red has been awarded NAB AIM Best of Show (content creation product) for NAB 06.. exciting news.

Congrats to you and your whole team Jim, and a special thanks to Chris Petrillo who has been so diligent in getting back to everyone trying to make a reservation. (Even though I'm still playing phone tag with him. Seems I'm either in teaching a class or in a meeting whenever he calls back. Sooner or later I'll get in the queue.)

Wow, that's something I totally wouldn't expect.

This is a giant surprise.

(actually, I didn't know there was a best in show award. But there is, and now that I know that, what else would have won? Was this really unexpected? Red winning and being "unexpected" would be like Kanye West saying that his grammy wins were unexpected--Sarcastic. This machine is obviously an instrument of God)

All sarcasm and extolling aside, I'm glad you won this award Mr. Jannard. Thank you for giving me a reason to win the lottery or get a good job when I grow up. I'm sure by the time I can afford it, Red One will still be kicking major arse.

Can't afford a RED just yet, but looking forward to it nonetheless, especially after seeing the NAB booth presentation. Here's to you guys giving the HD camera industry a much-needed shaking-up!
 
Just goes to show ya, we aren't the only ones excited by what we are seeing from RED.

It was also front page news in the hardcopy edition of the NAB2006 Daily News. I picked up one as I was leaving NAB on Wednesday afternoon. I walked down the hall reading it with a big smile. The real cool thing that you didn't mention Chris, but that the NAB News article pointed out, and I quote:

"When it comes to cutting-edge technological innovations, attendees at NAB 2006 know a good thing when they see it. After exploring the reaches of the show floor, NAB attendees cast their ballots and made their voices known about which products at NAB 2006 deserve to be honored with the annual NAB Awards for Innovation in Media (AIM), the only NAB awards solely decided by NAB attendees."

The point is that this was an award voted on by thousands of NAB attendees, a generally tech-savvy audience who were at NAB to check out the latest equipment. The people have spoken. The interest is definately huge. The reaction to RED was obviously quite favorable.

damn i missed that copy wed, i looked for it but couldnt find it. I sure wish they would publish that online.
