I've read somewhere that P2 cards record to the SD cards in parallel due to the datarate.
If this is correct:
P2 transfer rate = 640 Mb/s = 80 MB/s
SD card (standard 6x) = 900 KB/s = 0.9MB/s
SD card (v1.01: 66x) = 10 MB/s
SD card (v1.1: 133x) = 20 MB/s (future)
Does that mean there are 8 66x SD cards in one P2 card?
Could a 4GB P2 card be bought, opened and the internal eight 512kb cards replaced with eight 4GB SD cards? The eight 4GB SD cards could be bought for around $1000. That would give you a 32GB P2 card. I wonder if anyone has tried this.
Could a P2 card be made that had an esata out on it?
