Silicon Imaging SI1920 Cinema Camera revealed (seriously)

Wow. It's... a lens... attached to a series of cables that go to a box on a desk. It's so weird seeing the lens with this gigantic monitor attached to it on a tripod! But whatever the design, I just care that the picture looks great. Bring it on!

Wow. If those are the actually cam pics close to final product I bet this will open up a whole market for casing design for this cam.

Um, those aren't pictures of the new camera. That's the SI-1920 camera head which has been available for over a year. You can see more pictures of it if you go the the 'Industrial Cameras' side of the Silicon Imaging website. The camera that everyone is talking about is the SI-1920HDVR, which is a complete system that incorporates the head, HD, and all the electronics inside a portable body.

just to shake things up. Its not NAB. but who cares

don't ask.
check out the ARRI mattebox and stuff.

Malcom,
Please don't be so helpful. Those images you posted a link to are not the SI-1920HDVR, they are a development box we did some prototyping on. We posted REAL photos of our camera on our website forum and will be introducing the camera tomorrow at NAB.

Misinformation doesn't help anyone. Silicon Imaging has tried to provide information with none of the hype to the boards. We expect the same in return.
Regards,
Steve

Does anyone know much about the Phantom?

I found out about it from Wikipedia. I am reading everything I can about all the different companies that are designing digital cinema cameras. This forum is great. Has someone already posted about the Phantom. I have spent most of my time reading abou RED up to this point.

I've used a phantom vision high speed camera at work (research lab). Seriously nice piece of gear - 100,000 fps at a reduced but useable resolution (for science at least). Seriously expensive though.
