Top Three Comedies Of All Time...

I haven't seen mention of this movie yet

Difficult to come narrow my list down.

Since most of the timeless comedies are already mentioned, I offer up these personal favorites, of which I will be the only lonely one voicing them:

Paperback Romance
The Full Monty
Drop Dead Fred

#3 - Parenthood - I relate to this movie in almost every way

#2 - Napoleon Dynamite - I don't know. For some reason this character cracks me up. Plus it encourages me as an aspiring filmmaker

#1 - Airplane - No comment necessary

Honorable Mention:
* Groundhog Day
* Ace Ventura
* Christmas Vacation
* The Jerk
* Stir Crazy

oh, I cannot choose only 3. Anyway, what kind of comedy? Like Austin Powers or Meet the parents?

Meet the Parents is painful. The one comedy everyone except me "gets"

Army of Darkness is great, by the way. And Super Troopers was very unexpectedly funny.

Hated that movie. Yeah, the girl was somewhat hot - but I would have told her to take a hike about 5 minutes into that movie. I kept waiting to laugh but never did.

American Beauty ? As many funny moments as there are in this film I can't see calling it a comedy.

Meet the Parents was friggin hilarious. Stiller is great.

You guy's didn't laugh ? The cat nipple scene ? The ashes falling ? Owen Wilson's religious character? The doctor / nurse comments ? The speedo ? The game of volleyball in the pool ?

Can't please everyone

John,

There are a group of comedian that for better or worse I find more annoying than funny:

Adam Sandler
Ben Stiller
Seth Green
Jim Carrey
Rob Schneider
David Spade
Chris Kattan

Don't take it too seriously, though, it's probably just a generational thing. :thumbsup:

It was a bit disappointing in my book. Those scenes you listed ↑ (which also happen to be the same ones shown in the trailer) were by far the funniest in the film. The rest fell flat IMO. Of course, I thought Analyze This was absolutely ****ing hillarious...so the bar was already pretty high for De Niro comedies that followed.

they act in so great comedies!

I just kept feeling bad about this almost likeable character in Meet the Parents. I mean, he kept digging a hole for himself, deeper and deeper and deeper, and I couldn't laugh, I just kept thinking to myself "man, that sucks"

But I suppose I shouldn't have put that much thought into it. Everyone told me how great it was before hand (I saw it on video) so that probably screwed it all up for me.

tough to make an "all time" list..

here are a few i like

The Pink Panther (1963 w/Mr Sellers)
Living in Oblivion
box of moonlight
Take the Money and Run
Bananas
The Producers (1968)
Sexmission
up in smoke
down by law
night on earth
The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob (Louis De Funes)
welcome to the dollhouse
Delicatessen
The Hairdressers Husband
my life as a dog

Top Three Comedies of All Time.

Dumb and Dumber? With all the comedies that have been made, that's the best you can come up with.

Spaceballs, while funny, wasn't even in Mel Brooks' top three comedies. I'd rate it no higher than 6th. His best movies were Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, The Producers, High Anxiety, History of the World Part I, then perhaps Spaceballs.

Office Space was funny but not a top three.
