Okay, I give up.

I have my recording settings and my sequence settings identical 720p/60.

I have the cam in the VCR mode, a firewire connection to FCP, and the sequence settings 720p/60.

I see all thumbnails on the HVX screen.

I push play and and record simultaneeously and nothing happens or no recording happens.

I go into the MCR menu, recording set up.

1394 OFF
TC Mode DF
TCG Rec Run
1394 UB REGEN On
UB Mode FRAME RATE
UB Preset ------
1394 in Preset - On

I See at 1394 TC in the screen

When I push both record buttons, nothing.

I've been through the manual repeatedly and can't identify what setting I am missing

HELP.

Did you hit the audio dub button so that it switches out of thumbnail mode?
If I remember correctly, Print to P2 doesnt work with FCP - Dont quote me on that.

Yep, I hit the audio dub to get out of thumbnail mode.

The manual is not the paradigm of clarity.

I don't know what I'm missing in the settings.

Does the DVCPro HD sequence setting require a non controllable device perhaps?

Yesterday at the Bootcamp, somebody made a reference to FCP needing "non-controllable device" selected with the HVX. I can't be 100% sure that Print To Tape (to the HVX) was what they were trying to achieve, so this post is kind of silly. ;)

Let us know.

Between the Apple white paper, the HVX200 manual, and two glasses of wine, I got it to work.

Gotta go to print to video, and interestingly, to stop recording you need the remote control

Excellent. That's an unusual way to stop recording. You would either the "Stop" button you use for playback, or even one of the two "Record" buttons ont he camera would do the trick. Good to know!

So could someone please provide an Idiots Guide to printing video from FCP to the P2 card??

I tried all day Friday with mixed results. At one time I saw a perfect image and then went back and all I got was digital noise??

1. Carefully identify your sequence settings in FCP, ie 720p/60.

2. Match those settings in the cam using the camera mode, number 5, recording set up.

3. Attach cam via firewire, then turn it on, and launch FCP.

4. Switch to VCR mode.

5. Press audio dub button to go to full screen

6. Press menu, then recording set up (no. 1)

7. 1394 TC REGEN - On
1394 UB REGEN - On
TC MODE - DF
TC PRESET -----
UB MODE - FRM RATE
UB PRESET ----
1394 IN PRESET - OFF

8. Render sequence.

9. Print to video command

10. At prompt, simultaneously pus rec/grey button under handle

11. Use the stop command on remote to stop

From what I understand, you can't record 720P 24P to the card and it needs to be 24P over 60P. So do I need to put my 24P sequence into a 60P one first or will FCP just add the extra frames upon export from my 24P sequence?
