Sony HDR-FX1 for $2000

It has now been removed from the website. Some lucky people just walked away with the deal of the century.

Nope... not yet. Would it be to my advantage to? ;)

Not really. Cool family, but probably wouldn't do much for you career wise. :D Good to meet some more Canadians though. Lived with a few in Jamaica. One from BC, one from Alberta and one from Saskatchewan.

Rextelleon,
I have a Studio-one XLR adaptor with a good Audio-technica lapel mic and an Azden shotgun mic. No problem at all. I've never had any interference. Works just fine.

Thanks Greg--good to know. I have an old Studio One that I was using on my backup TRV 900 and I am seriously hoping that it works with the FX-1.

Just read on another forum that Apple is now cancelling orders. Don't know if they're cancelling all of them or just the late-comers.

I purchased the last one at my local Apple Store in OKC. I recommend everyone to check their local Apple Retail Stores. Apple Retail Stores do not accept phone or web orders so you have to physically walk into one. If you live in a small city there's a chance they'll have one.

When I asked about the sale, the rep at the Apple Store told me that FX1s have been sitting in Apple's warehouse forever. I'm guessing not many people buy video cameras from Apple and they just decided to clear out their inventory in one fell swoop. Call your local Apple Store and talk to the business rep. They found mine sitting in a corner gathering dust.

$1995.00. To date, this is the cheapest video camera I've ever purchased. I initally planned on selling mine but now I might keep it as a backup camera. It's a pretty cool camera.

There have been many cancellations--and the guy at Apple had it wrong. The guy I spoke with at Apple told me it was definately a typo---and that makes sense. I mean if you wanted to clean up inventory you don't take 1000 bucks off the price--you take maybe 400-500 and they would still fly of the shelves. I feel sorry for all who didn't get their order fufilled---

Conflicting reasons for the cancellations.
I was told that they were not in stock.
Even though my order was processed and I was given a ship date.
Something is very wrong here.

Maybe. Maybe not. This wasn't exactly false advertising, but a typo. It's their product and they can do what they want. Mind you, if some were shipped out before it was caught then ya..right on!

They have cancelled my order. I ordered at Noon Eastern time. They didn't send me an email or anything. I went back to check my order status and it had been changed from shipping April 3 to cancelled. I really think a typo must have been made and they are not just "out of stock" as some have been told. I think they should honor the price they advertised, even when we specifically called and asked if it was correct. I'm not as much angry for me as I am for the one's who could have really benefitted from having one and couldn't get one otherwise. And also to cancel my order without calling or at least sending me an email with an explanation.

You really lucked out. The nearest Apple store for me would have been Indy or Chicago. 150 miles away. I'm sure the ones in the stores went fast.

same here :crybaby:

I just spoke to Apple, and apparently it was a typo - should have been $3995, but they were compelled to sell a few at $1995, as that was the advertised price. If you go onto the website, you'll notice that the FX1 is now nowhere to be found!!!

There have been conflicting reports from Apple as to how and/or why this happened.
Typographical error is one of the reported explanations, but it is not one of the explanations I was given.
BTW - it's not just the FX1 that's missing - notice - all Sony cameras are gone.
FYI - take a look at the locked threads in the DV INFO forums.
