Heys guys! Just finished this shoot in Philly, NYC area and wanted to share with you the fruits of my lighting labor. PLEASE NOTE - this is shot with the SDX900 - and since there is no Panasonic "other camera" section, and the SDX is basically the DVX's slightly bigger brother - I thought this might be the best place to post again. Take a look and tell me what you think. Also - some violence in these clips, but not too much - but also cute girls is strange make-up!

Adrian,

Your work is beautiful, the true mark of a professional. I loved the trailer for Paper Route also.

festivals possibly - it should run somewhere in the 20 to 25 minute range. They are in the beginning stages of editing and who knows how long that will take. I always steal footage as soon as I can!

Disjecta - thanks! It truly means a lot - especially considering the quality of your work! Viva Pine Lake! Paper Route was a lot of fun and a great, if increasingly infrequent opportunity to shoot film again.....

Looks gorgeous. I REALLY think there should have been sound when there were people speaking in the clips. It was distracting to see them speak with no sound.

I LOVE the shot where the cat woman and the guy are walking down the hallway. How did you get such great DOF. Can I get that with the DVX? Does that just require a good DOP?

Yeah, I agree. It was sooo good you just wanna know if that sound too will nail it.

But I have to give you that kudos men, that was awesome.
I love the sharpness. It shows that the SDX is great with no light.

Did you shoot it straight from the cam or you added e.g adapter or something?

Yeah man, that's pretty cool.

Bloody as all get back. LoL. And I like your lead actor's internal struggle. I'd really want to see this.

I wish I had audio! They recorded separate from camera into a Digital Recorder so I couldn't grab it, but the director lives in Philly and I am in CT so I got the chance to meet him and his hard drive in NYC to grab footage so I took the chance as opposed to waiting months down the road and hoping to see him. Forgive me xilix, but what is "e.g" adapter? I will tell you that we shot straight with a Canon Cine Zoom as opposed to a broadcast lens. I love the rounded, softened feeling that the cine lens give the image - while still retaining definition. The lead actress is named Caitlin Mulhern out of NYC - she's on myspace too - a very gifted actor, very gifted.

Vampire - I agree about the sound! You can get some shallowness on the DVX lens when shooting at a full Z99 zoom and composing appropriately, but it won't drop off as far as the canon zine zoom lens - one of the only shortcomings with the DVX in my opinion - that's just being about to choose your own glass with the SDX900, but you should be able to get a good drop off in DOF by shooting on or close to wide open and on z99. Operating a dolly at that zoom however can be more of a problem!

man. What the hell am I doing in Toronto. The talent here sucks. Im going through the Myspace site and it's incredible these films. One dude filmmaker is like 22? What the hell.

wow. this is just blowing me away. I would LOVE to see this! The concept is oustanding, and I love the sets! A white arena was a great idea. wow. Nothing but good things to say.

wow, nice footage, I saw your freezer burn trailer awhile back, whats the name of the music playing?
*nm found it!*

Wow, really some beautiful imagery in there.

For a trailer the pacing seemed a little slow at times and it felt like you gave a little too much away, but still it was great looking and I am definitely intrigued.

Thanks for the kind words and recommendations guys. Yeah - it is more of a cinematography showpiece than a traditional trailer. I want to get in as much as I could - especially seeing as I had never really shot an action piece before. The music is by an artist named Madeleine Peyroux from her album Careless Love. There are about three or four major pieces that I purposely left out of the trailer - at the director's request. The white room was a 26 foot square set and the pillars in the room were movable. Each of the fights are separated by their photographic basis - sticks and montage, dolly work, handheld, handheld dollys...etc...it was a blast but cleaning that fake blood off a white set was murder.....wow what an awful pun....

Is anyone having trouble downloading this? I know that it is a long time for a 124 meg file but is anyone being blocked from viewing?
