Has anyone yet received or picked up their PAL HVX200 yet?

I am desperate to hear any feedback. I can't get to pickup mine for another two weeks because of a shoot I'm working on.

They were shipping out yesterday in the UK... Anyone got one yet?
 
I am also really interested to know that, cause i wanna anticipate when i am getting mine here in germany, i hope they dont forget the rest of europe, cause i just keep hearing about cams being available in the UK.

So there is the historical chance for someone to announc if he has received the first pal model worldwide!!

This is for the lucky person:dont for get us poor users who are still waiting for their pal shipment.
We are dying to get some information and "reviews" or first impressons from those who get it first!-Thanks though!
 
Well, I've just received a text message from my wife telling me that we've just had a delivery with proactive's name on the packaging. So.. T-minus 145 minutes until I open the box and take a look see.

Danilo, the xdcam hd would certainly be an option, if it didn't cost 20000 Euros. With 20000 Euros you could have an HVX, 2 8gb cards, a P2store, a Arri lighting kit, A small dolly system, a handheld steadicam system, a brand new Laptop and even a home editing station! :)
 
Supposed to be picking up mine tomorrow, but don't know if I'll bother. No point if I can't record anything but DV via tape - because there's no Firestore, and no other similar priced options :(

Might as well stick with the DVX for now and save some money until there's better options...
 
Dear SPZ, I've noticed that my web-friend Emanuel was lookin' for Xdcam HD too (my second choice when we have talked about camera's options), I've also trust in his choices. Maybe he had a little of luck to test it (I've not tested Xdcam yet, but I've read reports that says it's near to Hdcam quality, I've tested Hdcam personally you know and was amazing)
Emanuel is a good guy and expert too :)
Hope to see his thoughts about it!

We're also looking at the XDCAM HD... Variable bit rate 35mbps should look really nice, and 1/2in CCDs should be lower noise and more sensitive... And recording onto reusable Sony optical media is a great solution to affordable non-linear recording.

Quite a bit more cash than the HVX and it's cousins, though.
 
Our DP prefers the Varicam to Sonys HDCam and I think it'll be a similar situation with the XDCam and the HVX (though granted the XDCam does have 1/2 inch chips). I think for the extra money I'd rather get a HVX and pimp it up, get plenty of storage, etc.
 
If you like to be compatible with 99% others in the Netherlands you better buy the Sony, it is everywhere, but it's always nice to be a rebellion! Until now, no HVX here. Two big questions need to be answered to change that.

1. Where are the 8 Gig P2 cards? (or Firedrive or another way to record)
2. How can you edit 50P ? (Wait for FCP upgrade)
 
Can you not edit 25p in Avid?

And yes where are the 8gb cards - none in the UK say my dealer they've been told by Panasonic. I don't understand! How hard must it be to manufacture them? It's not like the Xbox360 shortage where they were working night and day trying to manufacture units with lots of parts - it's a tiny little card!
 
About p2....

i heard the same about the 8 gig cards, but not only the uk, not just in europe, but also not available in japan and really hard to get in usa(think just with cam, but probably only 4 gigs..)

I heard that they wount get some 8s till the end of april..all over the world.
there is rumor that its due to new production(nothing specific said, but i guess its the 16 gigs, probably anounced at nab and maybe right around the corner...!?)

But yes, what we do till the end of april?Is the fs100 really coming now with the first pal shipment?-Time will tell!
 
edius: someone who has a demo or a full version of broadcast:is it allready possible to edit 25p with it?

I guess that all the big ones(fcp, avid, edius) will release new versions on nab..hopefully!
 
Aiiieee! But Nabs a month off - what do we use to record DVCProHD/DVCPro50 until then? And what do we use to edit 25p??? These are significant problems.
 
First post for me...just collected my PAL camera this morning from Creative Video, but have ordered a Firestore too. I've spoken with a few dealers in the UK who tell me that the Firestore is most likely a couple of weeks away, despite having been told initially that they would turn up this week. Consensus seems to be that 4Gb P2 cards are generally available, forget the 8Gb for now. Mostly moot anyway since I edit in FCP so options are limited anyway.

Apart from that, I'm really excited about the potential of this camera. Hope to post some experiences with the camera real soon.
 
Skip is now the first member that reported getting the PAL HVX and he also done it on his first post! Congrats Skip!
 
Skip I'm really happy for you! When you have the time, test the noise (just increase ev'ry setting to high till burnin' the image).
I've noticed in my "hands-on report" that Pal pre-release model had less/no noise than Ntsc model (also tested by me) !
Link to a computer or laptop to shot in HD if u don'have P2 cards.
