Hi.

Just wondering which i should buy, NTSC or PAL. Will be using it most in the states/canada, and therefor not realy want to buy PAL. So im wondering if i buy PAL, will i be able to use it on NTSC monitors? (maybe with some kind of adapter?) Or the other way around. And what is "best" NTSC 24p or PAL 25p?

Cant realy seem to figure out what i should go with...

The concensus is: when in NTSC-land do as NTSCers do (and vice versa).
It will be MUCH easier, and no one will ever notice the difference anyway.
Yes, PAL will give you some extra pixels, but unless you do the PAL to NTSC conversion VERY WELL, by the time you get your footage to display on US/Canadian TVs, it will look a lot worse!

So...

So...

So what your basicly is saying is that NTSC is the safer bet...? I dont realy care about the resolution or what not. Im just trying to find out whats the best/easiest of using PAL or NTSC around the world. So it seems ill land on an NTSC HVX, which i dont mind, just hope they have ann global/international warranty:)

THNX BTW

Yep, NTSC:
but I can only go by what you write; and you wrote "Will be using it most in the states/canada" in your first message. Now you are saying you are using it "around the world". Whereas they aren't mutually exclusive, they sure read differently.

Sorry

Sorry

Sorry, ill clarify my intention.

I live in Norway for now, but in 1-2 years time i will leave for Canada, where i will study for 15 months, then ill either stay in Canada or ill head down to the states. If i find no sucsess in that ill head back to Norway. So for now and a year or two ill use it mostly in PAL land and then ill head over to NTSC land. In NTSC land i will probably use the cam on å monitor while shooting and what not, while im in Norway i will 99% of the time use it on my HD LCD TV, but i think my tv might handle showing NTSC.

So, if there is an adapter or something i can use to use a monitor in NTSC, i can go ahead and get a PAL version. Otherwise i will get a NTSC since i will be using it on monitors mostly in NTSC land. My tv i would always find some way to watch it on...

Im not sure if this make any sense, so give me a post if its not logical.

Thnx for your interest:dankk2:

I'd say buy the 50p HVX-200E version now, then in two years time sell it and buy the 60p HVX-200B.

Two years is a long time to have a sub-optimal workflow with a 60p camcorder in a 50p country...

Anders speaks wisdom, as usual.

Buy the one now that you'll use now. Put it to work now, start earning money with it now, pay it off now. When it's time to move to NTSC territory, sell the PAL unit and buy the newest/up-to-date NTSC-compatible unit.

Yep, "PAL" is the way to go, both Anders and Barry are correct given these NEW details.
